Selling MPC 3000LE for MPC 4000

I think I like the clean sound of the 4000 over the 3000 and I'm thinking of selling my 3000LE for a 4K. Do you think that this is a good trade off? I personally can not see any advantage of the 3K over the 4K.

The 3000 a great machine but for 5-10 years ago. Things are moving so fast to be honest I can see the 4000 looking old soon. but in the MPC world this 4000 is the best I sold my 2000xl and my mpc60 without looking back..oh yeah i also sold my sp1200....i never thought i'd ever sell that! I have no regrets trust me i was skeptical for a long ass time

ya and you can downsample(bit crush) as well if your going for that sound as well

rent an mpc4000 b4 u sell ur 3000 and buy it. $150 for one day's rental & all ur questions will be answered. Good to come to the forum for advice but nothing beats hands on. I did that a few weeks ago and... make's the decision very clear after that.

ok and what was your decision??? LOL.. why spend $150. when you can go to Guitar Center and play with one for a few hours?? Oh I forgot if you can find a 4000 in a store right now......The other thing you can do is.....if you got good credit buy one from G.C. and you have time to return it plus you'll have your 3000....ok youngin's if you have no credit go convince Grandma she'll do it if she loves your silly asses..LOL

At guitar Center, sam ash, or any place other than your own studio u are never gonna be able to put any piece of machinery thru it's paces. Maybe a hobbyist can get by like that. But anyone serious about making music & making a living by making music does not make purchases by window shopping. Your main objective is to not have any downtime. "How does it interact with ur present equipment?", if u have a zip100 or HD on ur 3000, do my programs/sequences load in full?" "Is the extra button pushes in the user interface a big adjustment for u from ur 3000?" "Is it worth it?" "should I just use the money and get a motif or new triton ex or fantom srx?" U need more than 20min at a store and the word of a salesman, who don't know jack or never used the item you inquiring about 90% of the time, to make a big switch. My decision? I got one and put it in along side of my mpc3000, 2000xl and patched it in. Used it once on a new styles p song for his upcoming album that i did from scratch using 4000, motif, a-station. However, had to come back down and lay tracks into ProTools because Powerhouse doesn't have a 4000. Only 3000 & 2000. So I still haven't really used it in a work situation. I will say that seamless integration from 3000 to 4000 is not quite accurate. I had to adjust filter & resonance settings and I had to put sounds back on pads after loading. It has alot of stuff in it I would never use because a computer can do things so much easier but even w/ the extra button pushes the 4000 is not a bad machine. Just remember it's an update of the 2000 not the 3000.

Right it is.....but the Sequencer is all the same. Timing etc..the 4000 has added editing features, better sampler and everything else. I just love using my Motif, MPC4000, A Station, Reason 2.5 and Proteus 2000 together. I usually do most of my drums and percussion in the 4k I also do alot of sequencing in motif since I love its loop feature and mixer automation plus it dont matter I have all my units synced together so when I press play in DP, it will trigger my MPC which Triggers my Motif and everything else is just a sound module to me connected to the 4k......which BTW have you seen the fantom X Rack??...I'm buying that soon very nice Bass and synths. I used to be a gear slut but now I just buy what I realize will be most effective in my production. Every company has its strengths so i try keep a unit covering all the sounds I want from each manufacturer. I learned on 3000's back at IAN London productions in NY. I bought a used 60 upped it to 3.10 software, bought a 2000xl, sold it and moved to the 4k recently.....This is the best one yet!!!

Just remember it's an update of the 2000 not the 3000.

actually to me the 4k is more than just an upgrade to a mpc ... the 4k is an upgrade to the z4 rack...think about it (if you've ever used the z4) its a z4 wit mpc capabilities" the monster midi sequencer combined with a monster rack sampler....bam.....mpc4k (z4 get it) just the mind on haze

So many peices of gear. Have any of you tryied to get in to your gear and create your own sounds. Forget the factory sounds that is for the sale, but your signature is what counts. You will find that your equiptment is capable of some things that will open up a whole new world.
