How does the 4000 differ from the 2500?

I love my 2500 but am quite taken with the idea of working 44.1/24 bit (sound quality/future-proof etc) and so am looking into the 4000.

A few questions:
1) If I'm very fluent with my 2500 how difficult is it to learn the 4000?
2) I use Input thru a lot. Is there an equivalent button?
3) Keygroups/Ak.sys etc. The 4000 seems very different. Is it?
4) Am I honestly going to hear the difference between 16 bit and 24 bit? (tracking into an Apogee Ensemble)

Very different yes, not a bad thing, just different.

well you should probably tink of making the move while you still can if you descide to... the 2500 will still be around for a long while where as the 4000's might start disapearing.

do you know if the 4000 will play 2500 programs/sequences etc? can i load up my 2500 compositions into it?

i am not sure.... but i would not be surprized if it wont since the 2500 is a much newer machine.

the 4k is older, but spec wise is more powerful... really the power is what you do with it.

check out what the machine can do, do you see any features the 4k has that you really need that the 2500 doesn't have?

Man. The way hi-hats sound on the 4000 is unlike any other.

Hey what about JJOS on 2500? I REALLY think it makes 2500 considerable to buy.

no, it does not.... from what I know, the 16bit is soomething only upgradable by upgrading hardware... (not dependent on software)

Probably one of the weakest selling point of the 4k.
That's definitely not what makes the 4k better than the 2500 (with or without JJ OS).

i dl'd the manual and had a look at it and did think that the operating system looked almost exactly the same.
sequences/tracks/songs etc ----- so right now i guess i'm wondering what the fuss is all about

Better build, more memory, editing from a computer if ya want, better pads, not sure.. but more ins and out types like midi and that (though I could be wrong) , bigger screen, basically at the time it was released it had all the small features and in one box plus a great build.... it was made to be the pro machine to have in the studio because no matter who came in they would be able to use it since it wasn't missing any features that might be needed on a track i guess...
