Not sure if my RAM slots are working ? How can i test em?

Ok, so everyone knows how hard it is to get the correct ram type for the MPC 4k

I've tried about 4 different types of (256mb) sticks ... (256mb RAM sticks are ok ...right?)

I haven't tried one from MPCStuff.com yet . . . . probably cos they a f*** T*** !!!

Any suggestions of a way to confirm the RAM slots are in fact working?

If there is a fault with the ram slots, what can i do ?

Does the memory you have tried match the specs from the manual?...

16MB standard, expandable to 512MB
168-pin DIMM (PC133/PC100, CL2) slot × 2

PC133 CL2, or PC100 CL2?

mpcstuff is running a very good deal on 4k RAM at the moment.. why u no like?

got mine on ebay for silly cheap

$49 at MPC Stuff... got mine for £7.

Checked the manual & made sure i purchased the correct ram types ?? Nothing MPC just says it has the standard 16mb .....eeerrrrr

Are you sure you installed it properly?
You do need to push it in fairly firmly until it clicks and the silver 'buttons' pop up.
Also, each stick should have 8 ICs on each side (16 in total on each stick) otherwise it's not a recommended type.

Shipping to the UK is pretty quick and the ram is very reliable and guaranteed.
I have ordered a lot of ram from this guy over the years and he has never let me down.
Others here might be able to suggest alternative reliable sources.

You might have the correct ram. I think there might be something else to the ram because quite a few people have problems with it, including myself. I took it to Bruce Forat and he installed ram in about half hour.

Try cleaning out the slots. Try resetting the machine. Good luck.

was already installed in the mpc
when i bought it but the mpc didnt read it
the part numbers and s/n are visible
am i using the right ram sticks?

The silver plunger hasn't popped back up in your picture which means the ram isn't down correctly.
Also the notch in the ram is still higher than it should be if the ram was all the way down.
