Ebay fraud warning!

I found a MPC4000 at Ebay and contacted the seller via e-mail.
Everything seemed very serious and I payed him 1400USD via money transfer.
Of course he didn't send me anything and dissapeared.
His (fake?) name is Riva Luigi and his address 81 Hoe Street, London, UK
Of course I have reported the incident to IFCC and the local police but I don't think they can solve this.

Anyone know how to find out his real name and so on from his e-mail?

It isn't just this seller that is causing problems. eBay is getting hit with a lot of fraud right now. Their accounts are being hijacked. The hijacker posts a phony listing often from overseas but not always. If the crook has control of an e-mail account that belongs to the seller, the high bidder gets totally scammed.

Use PayPal and their guarantee to pay for your merchandise. If you mail a payment instead of using PayPal, then you assume all the risk. Most important of all, if something seems unusual, then forget it and move on. There will always be another MPC4000 for sale.

You know how much this stuff is really supposed to cost. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. With all the victims posting fraud warnings on this site, how come people are still getting caught up?

there is a link on future producers.com that talks about this guy being a scam artist, he has done it before. THe only rule I follow, is: #1 dont use paypal, they are whack, search google and a gabillion anti paypal sites come up, read the agreement, they can freeze your $$$ for any reason at any time and without arbitration (usinng a 3rd party unrelated to either of you) to resolve disputes they are judge,jury and executioner. 4 get paypal.

#2 dont buy from overseas if its more then what ebay fraud protection covers. If someone here in the US rips you off for 1500 dollars you have good ways to track them down and get your $$$ back, all you need to do is register a fraud complaint and get the local cops where you live to call down to where he lives and tell them that there is a fraud warrant for his arrest wherever you live, and they will go out and arrest him. Overseas its almost impossible to get them to do it, especially for 2 grand.

Not to be a dick homie but why would you make such a large purchase from someone that has zero feedback anyway???

with Ebay always check the feedback, the length of time they have been ebay members and I have to disagree with Foo cos Paypal is a great companion to ebay. It's nice to be able to verify everything so quickly and track every move you and the buyer/seller make. Plus ebay owns Paypal now so they have a certain amount of control against fraud when you use it. They can freeze your account but I doubt that happens unless you are trying to defraud somebody else, or sending money to hezbolah ect ect...

I was totally new to Ebay and I thougt it was a safe way to purchase.
So I hadn't read all these warnings on the net, until after the deal was made. Maybe it's typcial swedish to trust in people we shouldn't...
Anyway, I can't do more than hope for IFCC to find something and hopefully someone nail this guy.

Hope they'll get him soon and post pictures of him all over the net. I never buy overseas except for when dealing with stores I talked to on the phone first (thats how I got my MPC4k). I've heard scary shit bout Paypal so I won't use it.

word .one thing I remember about payapl was there was a seller, who had a dispute with a buyer, as a result paypal froze his entire account, to the tune that he could not take out the 2000 dollars he had in it (the dispute was over $300 dollars) well, that was where he kept his $$$$, thus he could do no more ebay business until he sorted it out, the agreement you check without reading connects them to your checking acct. SHADY.
basically he lost his business $$$ for over a month while paypal did nothing. sad, just sad. I guess I would only use paypal as a buyerm as a seller I take nothign but checks and money orders. Most people are honest, but like dude said, if the deal for a triton is 500 dollars, its prolly a rip off artist.
