But the 5k does have a synth that you can program using it`s synth settings via qlinks. But it doesn`t have a matrix for samples like the 4k. That is the beauty of a full sampler that you can put any sound in it as your osciallator. You aren`t set with preset waveforms.

so basically, I can put a sample into the 4k, and start tweaking around with it with the q links? Do you have any youtube videos showing this or some kind of modulation matrix stuff. I know Reason has it.

might have to back out of this 5k I just won on ebay and get the 4k instead :-)

Nice one Haze. This is a good thread. We are of the same mind. That MonoPoly video is good. I have two people helping me, both synth programmers. One teaches this stuff and the other is a certified tech who's been fixing synths and performing since the 70's.

Let me know if you are available or have the desire to help out. We can plan a time to meet on skype. In an era of easy video making and sharing there is a need for an MPC4000 video instead of having to watch other synth videos. We can get this done.

My problem is that I am not efficient in my MPC maneuvering. If you or someone else gets in the mix too then we would have this thing sorted in 2 hours.

I think one of the videos I will make might need to be a beginning to end recreation of a popular song that was synth heavy.

Talk to me.

Seriously, thanks for this bump and the tilt velocity explanation.

Thanks Ian, I don`t have Skye but I will try to help out any way I can. This was an older thread I had written way back. I would maybe get a midi keyboard with midi mappable knobs or sliders to work with the 4k the same as the Z4 and Z8 and the 4k really starts to open up. If your current keyboards knobs are mappable then the program matrix will work like the MonyPoly. I used to have a Korg Kontrol 49 with 8 sliders and 8 knobs to map to my 4k but I traded it in for a Electric Piano 88 weighed keys with no controller knobs. :|

However I can map my 4k with my spark machine in midi mode or my analog synth now. If you have any questions I will be glad to help. Software taught me alot actually about the capabilities of the 4k.
