The MPC 4000 costs $2700 brand new. I would like to think that before anyone made that kind of a purchase on anything, that the person would give it its' proper research. Just like buying a car. If you can't test drive one now, wait until you can. Seeing is believing, talk is cheap.

To say you'd hate to buy the 4000 and think you could've done the same things with it, as you could've done in Reason 2.5, shows signs that you might return the 4000 for more software in the end. Your question shouldn't be about which one of these platforms are better. It's hardware and software that you're comparing. You want something that you can do with the 4k that you can't do in Reason 2.5? I know you've heard this before...you can make music on the 4000 without turning your computer on.

A better question for you to ask would be, is Reason 3.0 is better than Reason 2.5? We all have 4000's here and we're all satisfied customers who use multiple platforms WITH our 4k's. It challenges you to expand your production horizon. Read through this entire forum or RTFM. That will help you much better than the minimal info you're asking for.

P.S. Don't take my words out of their text, you made a bad comparison.

everyone is fukin with you, cos Reason sounds childlike in comparison to the MPC. I have reason and I don't use it to much but I know lots that do. I think Reason can be a good sketch pad if you like working inside of your PC/MAC. The way MPC's work and the way Reason works is way way different. If you've never used an MPC before and you start from scratch with the 4k you might have a nervous breakdown. Especially if your used to programming inside of Reason. Programming is totally different and better with an MPC I might add. You will need patience, time, money, records, synths, software, ect... to use the MPC to it's fullest. It's a big professional step but it's worth it if you are dedicated.
