Should I trade my Mpc 2KXL for a 4000?

In song mode the sequencer doesn't play smooth. I have never had a problem with the 60,2000, and 3000 with that. I got 1.51

you might have a problem with the RAM of your MPC, check it (or replace it)

Ya gotta set 'reset q-link and controllers on seq change' to off in the MISC menu if ya wanna smooth sequence changes.

Its not that its worst, its not worst its improved, its just certain things used not to work pretty well, plus some people dont bother to upgrade and read the upgrade manuals

The program decay hasn't been implemented. I don't know if it ever will.

It is in program-kg mix-edit 1. On the previous mpcs's this was a must

for making drum samples better. I had a problem with it and called Akai

tech support. They told me that feature isn't implemented and they

are trying to lobby it to get implemented. I will try turning off the q-link

in song mode. So far I have just been converting the song to a sequence. [/i]

How do you fade the tail end of the sample out? Thanx...

hy f.o.b.! if you can't fade out the sample as you want in prog mode you can try the function in sample mode - edit - fade up down!

Sir, can you explain to me in layman's terms how the curve field works in sample edit? Good lookin out..

2. i've never used that function up til your question amd then i've tested it just to see if that really works

my opinion: it works only in a limited way depending on the sample your workin with, obviously different on a short sample such as a drum hit or a sustained one ... i've also noticed that the value to be controlled by fade down depends on the sample your workin on! no idea how it works on a looped one ... maybe try to loop your sample and see what happens then with the value to be controlled

advice: leave the fade up to 0 and turn the fade down as much as you can and listen if the sample fits, ... if it doesn't fit retry until it fits! if it nearly fits maybe also in combination with the timestretch function you can obtain some results

Is that it's got too many features. When you figure the average new user has problem with the 2000, you know folks ain't gonna have a clue with the 4000! I tried to load some samples from a cd, it it took forever (maybe a buggy system, this is when the 4k's just came out). The 2000 is simple, basic, and can do anything you need it to do with the help of some external gear. 90% of the people I know that bought the 4k, took it back and grabbed the 2KXL. Same thing goes for rolands MV8000.. over hyped, and you can find an abundance of used ones at guitar center. If akai would have put high & band pass filters, a better processor to speed up re-sampling/timestretching, and the ability to sample while the sequencer is playing, they would have one heck of a machine (based on the 2000 OS) Heck, if akai could simply add folder support to the 60/3000, I'd buy any one of them.

hahahah, "folks anit gonna have a clue with the 4000" well thats down to the person behind the beats,...........how many years ya have under your belt,how quick u learn, if you read the manual and research music tec on a whole ...... and if youve used a synth and sampler before you should be banging out beats in no time...........you can skim the surface or go real deep.......i find any well speced pc/mac sequencing apps have steaper leaning curves
the OS is SO much better now ,ive been a user since 1.20 , and put up with all tha **** ,so it kind bugs me when peeps that dont even use the 4k coming hatin,but hey thats ur opinion and respect 4 airing it':lol: ....i was looking back over the first treads in the in here a while back ,and peeps were hatin ...none on that **** stands any more and sure over 90% of everyone else here will agree....im happy with my 4k ....new os on the way as well...........
how many people ya know that bought a 4k? 10 100 1000...(':lol:')...have you considerd that the memory is 512mb./higher sample rates/bit res hence loadin/processing time ,its feels real quick on shorter samples ,but maybe it could be a faster.....u can sample when seqs playing....................there are high and band filters and loads more............i hear ya with backwards compatabilty probs.....
Roland should start making proper analog synths again the SH101 is tha**** 4 bass........................................................................................
