I've been on this forum too long to risk my reputation, these photos were taken right before i packed it up and mailed it to you. You can click the info button and see the time spread between the first photo and the last is longer than it would take if I was trying to scam you (turn it on, take a pic, turn it off then turn it on again and take a pic again)

hey no worries mate
i am not accusing you of anything.
i just feel soooooo frustrated right now cos i have been waiting for this mpc for a long time, and the lcd screen makes it impossible to use.
we both are reasonable people, i am sure we can find a way to sort this out together.
i sent you some proposals by email.

thx

hey bachabulu, would it be possible for you to install aksys and see if you can continue using the mpc that way? if so then you can be more or less certain that its the screen thats gone....just part of troubleshooting really....obviously looking at your videos the screen light goes off....but u never know what might be causing it....

my two cents

you have to expect some problems with older machines.

the mpc 4000 IMO, is one of the most well built samplers ever made.
even with it's chinese manufacturing.

probably a new ribbon cable will solve the problem.

With AK.sys you might not even need the screen.
how every you would have to be an experienced user.

Yeah, I feel for you dude. Question, and there's no blame here, was there any discription written on the shipping box detailing "handle with care" and/or "delicate"?

That's pretty much how I see what initially caused all this, the mishandling of delicate merchandise.

And I too agree with using ak.sys until the problem is resolved.

well you will need a computer with a screen.....and usb port....then on the your computerscreen you have a connection with the mpc and control the mpc using your mouse and comptuer

Image

the software you will need is here

http://www.akaipro.com/contentmgr/showd ... /1119/tt/5

if you have a pc you need to download and install

MPC4000 - Version 2.00 of the USB drivers

MPC4000 - ak.Sys V2.53

then you need to connect a usb cable from your pc to the usb on back of mpc4000...same as like mpc1000

then start up your mpc...and then the aksys program and you should hopefully see an mpc in the software...if you double click on it you then see the drive on your mpc...as well as memory etc....

if you press the pass assign button (left hand side beside the pads)...and then select sens

is maybe pad 14 set to 0?

if you press on the pads you can test them...should see graphically as you press the pads

gertie wrote:sorry for my misinformation...on pad sens it only goes from 100% to 200% you cannot set it lower....

try maybe all the different banks....eg A, B,C,D,E,F for pad 14?

same result
i found out pad 14 was dead when i tried sample/trim mode.

if that pkg went to Canada, it's possible that customs damaged it while doing a random inspection....i.e. DRUGS..........
they may have opened the pkg and unscrewed it or something.

i deal with stuff like this in my type of work
