I couldnt get Aksys on my computer...Im running a PowerMac G5....I dont know why it wouldnt install, I have a work around though, I chop my samples in recycle and throw them on a USB stick and load the samples from there.

That's cool. Workflow I use is to loop the region I want to hear how it sounds, then chop it up for tempo and to give me the ability to sequence it in the track. Also I sample into the 4k one bar at a time instead of a whole 32 bar loop. It it better to find phrases from different loop points.

O M G...that gives you better ability to switch it up and make more variations? or do you have the sample flowing all the way through? I cut up a sample with words in it but I cant seem to get the beginning point to sample from because when I load the sounds into the 4k the sounds overlap when i play them out.

Yes by digging for different phrases from different parts of a song you can come up with variations and turn arounds plus it takes you through the whole song. Plus I look for loop points in a records that are hot some are 2 beats others or 4 beats. When I find the loops I want (I use a sampler editor for this Bias Peak I don't have two turntables) I then I load them in the 4k. Sometimes I do cut and paste to rearrange my loop using shuffle region in 4k.

so you cut your samples with the software and then load the samples into the 4k with the AKsys editor? Thats ill...What are beats? Is that the equivalent of bars?

When I cut my samples up in the 4000 I record the newly manipulated sample into pro tools and tap tempo so that I have the correct tempo for the beat...quite a nice little trick, adds a little step into my flow.

Yes I record or import a whole song into peak then go through the song finding the regions I like from beginning to end. If I had two turntables I would do the same thing with two records to cut up and loop the hot points and record on tape. then I import everything in the 4k.

A measure or bar is 4 quarter notes or beats as we say for djing. 4 beats is one bar, 2 beats half a bar, one beat a quarter bar for loops.

Yeah I dont know all the technical terms when it comes to music, I just know how to drum out on the pads...Sorry bro. LOL

Anybody come up with any new workarounds or anything? I havent been on my MPC lately.
