i really hope my ssd works for a long time. i assume transcend is a decent brand. i dont promise that it will work any better than your last drive, but going from what i read, others have had active IDE > SATA adapters go bad on them. i also assume that native IDE is always better than IDE > SATA conversion. i am only assuming. but of course that assumption comes from years of fixing computers and observing what goes and delineating why. everything i know has gone apparently way wrong at one point or another. technology does not always behave.

I'm happy to give it a go. Even if the IDE SSD is a only a small percentage less likely to be problematic it's worth it to me. I've ordered the pin adapter. Thanks again to of you ya for the info.
