I dont get how this 1 Maxtor i have doesent work on the MPC....
And ive seen all the people here dissing the maxtor drives but i have put together maybe 40 computers to studios etc, most of them (maybe 90%) with Maxtor drives and only 1 has crashed, so i think that has lot of do with luck...
About the S-ATA thing... Im just now starting to put together a new main machine to our studio, and i was thinking to put 1 IDE drive for system and software, 2 S-ATA drives, 1 for plugins and 1 for audio...
And i was thinking of NOT to put them on raid because if you lose 1 drive, you lose all data, right?
I read and test article maybe 3 months ago or so, that using S-ATA in raid isnt even that much faster than using them as regular single S-ATA drives...
I've read articles and analyses that don't make SATA RAID much worth it. It seems like little performance increase in Raid ) config. If you are worried about losing data, you would want to do RAID 1, this created a redundant copy of your data. This essentially doubles your reliability of your system, by using RAID0, you are essentially decreasing your reliability by half.
