If this trick works (song in the background, second solo sequence in the foreground to record into), I'd be VERRY happy! It's not as powerful as my individual track lengt proposal, but at least it allows you to break out of the pattern boundaries without having to convert the song into a sequence, which is not something I'm looking forward to.

Rob, while you're waiting for your new beautiful toy to arrive, I thought that I would
confirm to you that the SimulPlay sequence will continue to play and play and play
until you manually switch it off , or switch it to another sequence to play.

This is the only way that I am able to have seperate tracklengths until they implement
your request. Of course it's only 2 different lengths, but it's better then 1!

Oh yea. with the Simul Play, you'll want to use the Master Clock not the individual
sequence BPM, or the two sequences will be out of sync (could be cool with a 60
and 120 BPM sequence going at once).

Good news! This gives us at least two different track lengths indeed.

Nice tip about the master tempo. But even different sequence tempos might be useful sometimes, maybe for ambient stuff. And indeed, using 120 vs 60 ratios, we even got a way to put a track in slomo mode now (another one from the proposal). I wish there was a way I could 'resample' a slomo'd MIDI track. Or even better, I wish there was an edit command that would allow me to slow down or speed up (a section of) a MIDI track. No such thing, right?

My toy was expected today, but the delivery date has again been moved ahead, now for the 4th time, maybe even the 5th time. Again one more week of waiting. It's now somewhere between Akai NL and my shop...

I feel ya. I have P3 circuit boards sitting in my house, just waiting for Colin to do his
run of cases for his Production boxes, so I can grab one from him. I was hoping
to get the thing built before Christmas, but I might be building it over Christmas.


See, now there's a killer combo, a P3 and MPC 4000. Record all 8 P3 Tracks
to the MPC and whipe the P3 and start again with another part of your studio.

P3 + 4k is indeed a killer combo! Great choice. The P3 too allows you to break the pattern boundaries. I've got two P3 pcboards sitting here. I need time to finish my custom front panel. I've also got two Repeaters here that I really love. Imagine all that stuff running...
