No, no, no. Haha. I was talking about the Alesis Fusion killing the Oasys. Not the 4000. Personally, the 4000 does everything I need it to do, and if it does for you too, don't worry about the latest and greatest. If it doesn't, then by all means, look for something else. I don't know if either one of those workstations can read wavs direct from disk, because I know my old Triton Studio couldn't, and that to me is worth the price alone. 24 bit sampling is also a huge plus to me also, and the Oasys doesn't even do that. I feel you on the arpeggio's and such, but that can easily be fixed by adding a cheap synth, like a Juno-D or used Nord Lead, or something. I also agree with having everything under one unit instead of multiple units all over the place, and that's why I've been looking at the Triton Extreme, but I don't think I want to give up some of the luxuries I have with the 4000 just for convenience. Dedicated pieces of gear are dedicated for a reason. Remember that.

With the announcement of Ableton Live 5 to be released in July ( htttp://www.ableton.com/ ) and possibly some new features in the works for the 4K and I think I outta be straight for a minute.

Yes the limited 16 MIDI tracks is a drawback but it does have 16 audio tracks to compensate.
Keeping the MPC and adding the Oasys would be an ideal setup though.

Well, unless the Oasys does Real Time Timestretchin, your still better off with the MPC 4000
which does 64 Audio Tracks and 128 Midi Tracks. Just use the DAW method that was posted in the other forum post.

How do you record 64 audio tracks on the MPC?

Are those 64 tracks RAM based or Hard disk?
If they're RAM, I think that's a weak workaround cause once you get close to maxxing out your 512mb RAM you're stuck cause you won't have any room left in the memory to mixdown all those tracks.

It's definitely RAM based....

Though I do have to agree with the the people who say keep your MPC and use the both together. Would be such a more powerful combination, but I no how budgets go

i have seen a fusion today...a friend of mine is betatesting for alesis, and he says that things is completely whack..

looks like plastic, and its not very intuitive to use...really really check it out before you buy it...

It looks whack from the online vidos and pics. The thought of buying one never crossed my mind. There are a lot vital features missing like no Akai import, could use more insert fx, no real control surface...I could go on and on. If the Oasys was not so damn expensive, I'd be jamming on one right now.

and, btw, be aware of how many high quality products you can buy for the price of ONE Oasys...

i know it`s tempting to have everything in one box, but, if you dont like one of the things in that big box, you are not going to be able to change that part, or improve it..
bad DAW in the OASYS? you will have to wait for Korg to replace, which may never happen...You dont like the effects? same thing...etc etc etc...

a pro should take the best of everything, and combine it..,

i have never bought any piece of gear for its effects. i simply have never heard any piece of gear with half decent effects.

for the price of one OASYS you can buy yourself an impressive setup, including a MPC 4000, Triton (if you need that), MOTU I/O Interface, a Computer with Cubase/Logic/Ableton, some used Analog synths, etc etc...

the way i see the OASYS, its a maxed out Triton with some softsynths and harddiskrecording for ->8000<- Dollars/Euros...


if you think you need it, please buy it, and i hope you will be happy with it.


and after doing music since 1995 and releasing around 30 tracks on vinyl i may not be a "pro", but i know my way around...
