mpc 4000 vs. mpc 1000&pc

Yes you can use motu with the mpc.
you wont need a software sampler if
you get the 4k, it has a full featured
sampler built in.If you need "the all in
one with all the fixins" that would be
the 4k.The piano roll is something im
not familiar.

my bad iknow that its easier to cut samples with a mouse....i was jus wondering about the many talked about features of the 4000...

If i were you i would go check them out in person, see which one you like, ask the sales guy all your questions. keep in mind that he might not know sh*t, and ask him who in the store knows about mpcs (if any body).Search the 4k forms, do a review
search for the 4k on the web, figure out your buget
and see if the 4k fits in there. (keep in mind all the up grades you might need if you get the 4k le)
Buy one from a place that will let you return it in 30 days if you dont like it. GOOD LUCK

Did you here some tracks that used the MPC 4000 Yet? I have the New Motif ES6 with the MPC 1000 on order but if I feel limited in da future with da MPC 1000 I will upgrade to da BIG DAWGZ the MPC 4000 or da ROLAND MV-8000. Which in your opinion do you think would be a better buy for HIP-HOP/R&B production? I would need everything in one package with lots of features. Things that I can complete on the spot without runnin back and forth or even using a PC if I don't want too. So if you've tested the Roland MV-8000 or if you have da MPC 4000 please let me know the 411 on the two Thankz!

I have a motif es8..a supernova 2 prox keyboard..like 4000.00 worth of decent akai..wav...format sample cd's...and guitar synth stuff...
I am a gitarist who plays keys for fills and kinda a 1 man thing. I usa an akai dps24 DAW...and use my pc mainly for edititing my synths and guitar boxes(pod xt/tonelab/cybertwin)

I do not gig i record at home and really need a dedicated sequencer/drum unit box which is easy to learn and get around on..I am sick of buying a pice of gear asnd it only lasting 1 yr and it being difficult to use with more time spent in the manual instead of making music..

what scares me about roland is the learning curves/ burried sub menues and theobsolete mentality of the compamy...anyone?

You should buy either the MPC4000 or the MV-8000. I doubt that you would be as happy with the MPC1000 because it's basically a slightly improved MPC2000XL, and that means learning all the undocumented tricks.

The MPC4000 has a nice interface. Its large display and plentiful controls make it easier to use than the other MPCs. You can use ak.Sys for editing on your computer in addition to the usual MPC operations. It takes a couple weeks of effort to learn the MPC4000. Then you will be well on your way. I recommend that you buy two of the Sample Kings videos. Theses are perfect for a beginner, especially someone new to MPCs. You will save a lot of time seeing things done and then trying them yourself, rather than spending weeks reading a few hundred pages of the operator manual more than once.

With everyone just beginning to learn about the MV-8000 you are in the same place as the rest of us. However, this is not an old Roland product with buried submenus. The interface is much like the Fantom-S, one of the easiest to use products ever made. From what I have seen so far, the MV-8000 should be slightly easier to learn than the MPC4000. But you will have no tutorial videos and no editing software.

OK...seeing as the mpc4000 will read my 3000.00 cd collection i may just go with it..seems that it will be around awhile as it has lots of features
