Made the switch to a 4000, not that you care but....

I got my 4k back in january of 04 and I am still learning new sht this thing can do. I mean you can tweak the fck out any sound or multisample like it aint sht. its a same that not enough people had gave this technology a chance instead of writing it off with the same ol "I heard the OS is buggy" line.

I concur the 4k was way more advanced than alot of users who didn`t have a clue knew what to do with it included myself but I stuck with it and invested alot of time to learn the shit I didn`t know.

The biggest bug is not knowing what the hell you are doing!!!

Anyways a tip in my book the 4k was designed to work along with a midi keyboard controller use one of those and you can go crazy with program matrix and creating any sound you want. Sure the 4k has pads for drumming. But a Velocity sensitve MIDI KEYBOARD and KEYGROUP PROGRAM with the PROGRAM MATRIX is very creative indeed.

Just learn MIDI and SYNTHESIS and you can`t go wrong with a 4k.

I agree. Looking at the "Flaws" in the 4000 sidesteps the very premise on why you would buy one - You buy it to make Hot Joints !!! If someone cannot make a hot track on an MPC 4000 with relative ease (Buggy OS version or not), then that person just cannot make tracks - Period. Most have heard about the MPC's legendary sequencer, which is rock solid, but some of the hottest and most capable producers in the game, with all of the latest technology, STILL prefer an MPC to program and sequence with, even with the disadvantage this can have in regard to sequence resolution. Like Blue Haze stated, "The biggest bug is not knowing what the hell you are doing" (LOL !!!). Where can you find a 24Bit/96KHZ Sampler-Sequencer-Drum Synth that is not DAW dependant, great converters, tight signal to noise ratio, fully featured layering and filtering capabilties as well as all of the many other 'hidden' features of the MPC 4000? You would be hard pressed to find something that matches it's basic stability and user-friendliness....and the "Q"....... Whew ! - My three cents - Reub.

The funny thing is a buddy of mine last saw my studio when I had a 2000xl and he didn't seem very interested in making beats. He came over about a week and ago and saw the big dog (4K) and he was then very interested and said "now that looks like a machine to make beats". This coming from a Linux Engineer, now he is getting records together so we can sit down and make our first beats together. Love the 4K Love.
