Whats gone out/broken on your 4000?

umm.. my contrast knob has to be taped down, there's actually red tape (matches my red pads :) covering the knob it has to be taped down or I wont see a thing, this is due to me traveling back and forth from us & euroupe and one time I guess my luggage was treatet like an Irakien prisoner .. the whole screen took a beating, plastick is a bit craked and I need to order a new one cus these lcd lines are coming inn once in a while...but I've got 1000's & 1000's of hours on it since 2002,

not akai wrong doing... I should have bought a proper traveling case 4 the 4k a long time ago...

so besides that rock solid!, very stable, and I wouln't trade it for anything else thats on the market!

Well, I know I'm a bit late here, but since I purchased the MPC4K in 2003,
I recently replaced the USB/Headphone PCB. Other than that, I replaced the Hitachi HDD with the recommended SEAGATE HDD. Both fairly easy replacements.

Yes, it even replaces the cursor, the function keys and you can jump to menus with it. I bought one of those 'laptop sized' usb keyboard so it won't clutter my desk too much. It's nice.

Also naming patches is a breeze.
