We all are, of course theres been other ppl that come and went that made some stuff happen too but feline is the one that stuck with it and even offered to rewrite the manual so its updated and comprehendable. Apparently he writes technical documents for a living. But Akai refuses to even reply about the source files (framemaker i think?) files he needs cause rewriting it from scratch would be too much work.

Maybe. But theres a really easy way out for them. Numark didnt have anything to do with the 4000. Thats basically all they have to say, blame AkaiPro Japan that went out of business.

Both me and Adrian was in contact with a former employee for Akai several times about the 4k users being willing to pay for updates. He still has his 4000 and would also love an update. He even had a discussion with the coders that were the last ones to work on the OS, the one we all run now, 1.70 or 1.71. There was even a 1.71c spotted on Akai's old website which meant they were working an update.
But as soon as numark bought Akai they cut the updates for the 4K off instantly. We tried to get Sean (the former employee) to share the email addresses of the coders so we could take matters in our own hands but he didn't want to for various reasons, I guess he didnt want to piss Akai off. The coders were willing to work on the OS according to Sean as long as they was gonna get paid hence that thread in this forum that says "would u pay for an update". But Akai simply REFUSED to let that happen, and the coders needed Akai/Numark approval. So Numark DO NOT WANT updates for the 4000 to happen, atleast thats my theory.

Unfortunately they do. They don't sell the 4000 anymore. They want people to buy the numark mpc's. Thats probably why they changed the name of the mpc3500 to mpc5000. In their marketing the 5000 is the flagship model. The 4000 isnt even on the MPC comparison chart anymore.

That would be great. Unfortunately I dont know DanjaHandz or any other hitmakers that use the 4000. I know a couple people thats done quite a few hits but they use Logic.

Yeah well... problem is theres not that many 4000 users that actually uses it to its fully potential but mainly as a drumsampler. Maybe using 5-10% of what this monster actually is. Thats why we get all these stupid people in here that drops a one line saying some dumb sh1t like "dude, it works fine, go make music instead of whining".

I didn't mean to flame you and if you felt that way I apologize. My anger isn't directed towards you, of course its Nukai I'm mad at. And its great that you are gonna try and do something about it. But the reason some of us are bitter and kinda "gave up" is cause we did try and do something about it for 6 years. And some things did come out of it, but I'm POSITIVE the 4000 has a lot more to offer if only Numark would allow the independent coders working on it, but not even that they will agree to.
They simply don't want the 4000 to compete with their other, newer products, thats their most obvious motive since it wouldnt take them any effort at all really to just approve us to pay the coders ourselves. But they put the break on it.
For what its worth, I still use the 4000 and bang out some nice shit on it, but it saddens me when I know what "could have been".
