Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I don't do that I pick up just the acapella and do the whole thing again, bass, keys, kicks, snares, add pianos, guitars, synths and etc...I don't add, I RE-MIX the tracks got it...
It is the same thing when someone hire you to produce a track u have to do the whole thing from scratch....check the remix Blaze did for beastie boys , he only used the acapella from the original song, even change the stab.
That's what I'm talking about....

I don't add a kick or snare on top the original or extended the song and say that's my remix!!!I know there are several people doing that and stuff, and that is cool. it's the begining, and then u learn a little more, start use midi, vsti's and etc...
By the way Blaze uses Mpc 4k.

Ecsmix you are playing yourself. Fruitloops is a sampler and sequencer dud!!! if you are using a soft sampler or instrument you are still using samples be it from a some professional who create the phrases for your instrument or played each note in note by note it is still samples!!!

What are you doing on this board? I seen ya over at MVnation asking the same old shit. Running off with the mouth sounding like a naive idot looking silly each time I get paged by this thread. Everybody knows you never ask another producer to grade your music because everybody thinks that their shit is better. You have to have the fans evaulate our music through sales or the number of hits on your web site. If you are a keyboard player why don`t you play out in a band ( I still haven`t been able to download your music) or play a live set and then you can get a real brutally honest reaction to your music. It is ignorant to ask for someone`s opinion and get defensive and negative when they tell you they don`t like it. Come on what were you thinking all flowers and roses!!! Everybody`s shit stinks!!! You have to take the good with the bad and get mad as hell and IMPROVE yourself to please your fans not some other producers working in a different genre, style, and taste in music. The best music is GOOD MUSIC. It doesn`t matter what style, tempo, or where you got the material to compose it be it straight from the line you strum on a piano, a loop CD from Reason Refills, or a vinyl record. What counts is what you do with the notes, phrases, chords, and riffs to make the music the FANS WILL LOVE. If someone don`t buy your shit **** them!!! If your fans love it more power to ya!!! I love sampling and the great music that has been made from SAMPLING THE Past 20 odd years from pop, hip hop, rock, house hell the whole spertum so I had to step in here when silly ass statements are made by someone who seems to lack understanding of HISTORY, HISTORY, HISTORY of todays popular music. Everybody samples in the music industry whether they make their own samples and resample it or license (legally) sample from other for a fee. In the meantime reviving a forgetten artist`s work and some cases career. As for as hip hop. and modern day dance, club music if you understood HISTORY you would know that the music started from dj`s remixing, rebuilding, and totally rearranging in the studio with parts and pieces from records. The digital samplers brought these styles of music to life. If one didn`t sample Beasties would still be a Punk rock band **** up on stage, Rappers would still be touring with a funk band over popular songs of the day. Without sampling where would be that boom bap electronic and sampled drum sounds that has changed popular music. It is hard as hell to tune a acoustic drum set to that sampled sound. But most importantly before the advent of sampling music was largely segregated by style rock, soul , pop, and so on. People were not listening to other styles beyond their cultural or social backgrounds. Sampling change this through borrowing from other styles and combining them into something new bringing people together. From the 90s record companies changed this making sampling expensive and costly with lawyer fees which is why producers changed back to keyboards and sound modules aka (Planet rock style) I can go on and on but before you even try to knock anybody with your ignorance learn and know what the hell you are saying. Sampling has been part of the music playing process since probably you and I were born and it will grow more in the future be it from CD loops, resampling by the artists, or a student (dj`s like Primo Pete Rock, Alchemist, Kanye, and maybe a knucklehead like you and others) of great music reinterpeting it for the new fans of today.

Never knock something you don`t know anything about!!!

Ignorance made one look and sound foolish!!

I agree with you in some points but there are several types of sampling and everything you said to me I already knew about sampling and stuff.
There are several kinds of sampling, for example: from the guy who uses samples from a sound module(piano, guitars) from a guy who COPIED, I mean sampled the whole beat(loop) from another producer.
But whole discution begin because you thought and still think anyone who don't use an Mpc or hardware is a newbie, or doesn't know anything about music production.
That's why I put some of my stuff here, that's all.
In that point I don't agree with you because I know several great musics made only with Fruity and Reason.
I am not using Fruity anymore because I needed more once ago and Fruity 3.56 does''t have all the features I was looking for, that's why I changed to Reason, but now Fruity Producer, improved a lot,it is almost complete and it is easier and faster to work than Reason.
But what I am looking for on a MPC is the swing, you guys said it has and no one can copy, that's why I was asking questions here and the MV nation, they say the same swing MPC has MV has, and goes on and on.....

Don't trip, I believe this is for you, you all ignorants as far as software.
He doesn't know me and he doesn't know what I know and I don't, so nobody can judge nobody that's the point.
If you judge you know more than I do, please be my guest to make the bestie boys track or any track I did only using the acapella and let see who knows more about music production.
As far as MPC and MPC'S SWING I am ignorant, that's all!!

I was finally able to download your music since you had it as a mp3 file. It is pretty good sort of a Fatboy Slim meets the Beastie Boys mix. I could imagine a club version. Work with an engineer and you will have a better mix with less effects. I`m not a Norman Cooks fan though. Pass it out to the local djs to spin and get the crowds reaction. As far as swing on the mpc and the style/way is seems you are working I may be wrong but if you are working with loops arranged on a time scale in your loop sequencer programming your own drums rhythm by hand verses clicking in notes in a grid has a different feel and groove. If you have a high level DAW like Logic, DP, or others you can copy an audio groove into a midi groove and paste it into your midi tracks. Also you can set for a MPC groove using Pro Tools too. The tempo you had set seem to be in the 130-150 range so you would need alot of real estate (big monitor)to arrange and plan out your composition yeah. The MPC has a small screen. Each part would need to be arranged from separate sequences arranged in a song. Each drum loop would have to to fit the sequence. and the vocals would need to lay on top of the sequence either chopped up or timestretched. If you can change your mode or way of working to learn this it may be your weapon of choice. The Mpc makes it easy to program your own drums and sounds because the main focus is percussion aka your rhythm. If you are into breaks and high energy tempo you may be fine with what you have and just work on engineering your style. Remember their is only one kind of music which is good music.

As for me I recommend you check out Slum Village (If you aint feelin me just walk away, this just how I do and what more can I said Yeah Yeahee "Do You cuz ***** I`ma gonna do me ***** Do You) quote MC Breed 88-95 bpm rollling with the funk baby very different style and way of working yeah Yeaheeeeeee perfect with the MPC, SP1000 or any other drum Machine with that boom bap"

P.S. I and some others work in different styles and genres so don`t come with hate and loud talking on the thread and site if they don`t like your music, they don`t like it , it don`t mean that they are hatin!!!!!

Check out Live 4 thread also. :D

Do you , Do you, Do you don`t worry what others say Yeah Yeaheeeee!
