Thanks Joe for the explanation. I can visualize this and can see the
benefit of it. Would be nice to have both on the MPC.

A way to do this would be:
Add varying small amounts of silence to the start of your sample and use a random waveform on zone select to randomly select the different samples as you play. only prob is all the variations would fall after the quantise tick. Plus its alot of **** around.

How is the next sequence function now???

100% would be exactly quantized to 16ths

and any percent less would be that close or far away from accurate 1/16th time correction

it's really no swing, but a type of humanization

if he plays his drums and wants them to be quantized by 16ths but not perfect, he would adjust the % accordingly

This is sometimes called <Strength> in software sequencers and is represented in a value from 0-100%. I always wished the MP had this function for when you want to tighten up a little but not lock completely to the grid.
