Yeas, but I need a name first before I can knock.

Come on, there must be some long time forum members that remember names from old akai employees or even have old email addresses?

Akai doesn't know. The guy told me the 4k was 4 years before Numark bought them. None of they original japanese people are around anymore.

OK, do you or anyone else know a last name? And who is the "Dave" mentioned there? Dave Smith?
Didn't Roger Linn do stuff for Akai too? I know him, maybe he knows names?

"SeanW" is what I have in my memory?

You could also look at the old "dpsworld" EZboard forum.
(actually, it seems to live here now:

jeez man, who wants to ring up 40 different firms and ask them (in Dutch) if they remember having a small job from a Japanese music company 6 years ago, and if so do they still have the files?
Oh and by the way, no, we not from that company, we just bought one of their products!
Most companies would tell you to piss off right away, as they wouldn't discuss client info with some random caller.

got to admire your effort.

If jj had wrote the code for the 1k and 2.5k i find it strange he didn't have access to that for the 4k?
Cause surely there would be elements of development there to inform later products.
but then i wouldn't have a clue about how akai works.

I would also be surprised if jj wouldn't know who has had the 4k code.

I do :)

I've already written to about 10 companies. Also the one mentioned above. No result. I didn't tell who I was etc. Got friendly answers back, but no one knows.
