Alot of people had written off Moog
at one time too and he proved them
wrong!!! Alot of innovation can come
from the partnership of Smith and Linn
if and when the project gets out the
door!!

I think I will leave that up to the company that produces these machines.

business 101... customer survey. the company can make a superb unit in THEIR opinion... it's the customers opinion that matters.

Exactly. If a customer survey was done in the past...there probably wouldn't be an MPC 4000.

I could be wrong but Moog has stuck to what they/he do best....analog synths. I would be skeptical if they came out with a sampling workstation with an onboard analog synth in an attempt to outdo the Motifs, Fantoms, Tritons, M3s, etc. Neither Smith nor Linn is an expert at building a sampling workstation on par with current Akai or Roland products. Emu/Ensoniq couldn't maintain....Yamaha couldn't maintain. I will see if Roland can maintain at the upcoming Namm. Will they release another MV or will they discontinue that line?

I am a gambling man. Anybody willing to make a wager on Linn? (if that is legal here...if not, disregard)

No gambling is not legal and I wasn`t talking about Moog making a sampler but moog making a synth. Linn is making a sampler along the same line of thinking. But yeah for bragging rights I will wager but not with money just I told you so Jahrome. The synth part is done by Smith and the sequencing by Linn.

Both Smith and Linn are plenty capable of building anything they wish the thing is the cost and the distribution.

First...the name is Askia Shaheed.

Yes, I am aware that Moog makes synths and not samplers. But Smith makes synths and Linn made a primitive sampler and sequencer over 20 years ago. If they would have stuck with their original intent, which was to build a drum machine and not an MPC..than I would agree. But now they are trying to build a highend MPC? I think not. Bragging rights? Don't need more of that especially when I will be among the MPC 5K users here to take pleasure is saying "Blue Haze...I told you so."

Y'all need to put yo' money where you mouth is! :D Linn is going to take an L.

Even if Linn delivered a machine that wiped the floor with the 5K you'd be too pig headed and blinkered to admit it, so there's nothing to wager is there? ???

Your name is Jahrome you forget I can and have already checked your computer address no matter what you call yourself. As a MOD is one of the perks!!! As long as you play nice and not get back to your previous antics that got you banned in the first place you are getting a pass.

Like Coz said the question is will you be willing to admit when you are wrong when the machine is release??? Other can disagree with you that is what a discussion is about a different point of view. It would be a 4000 like Flagship.

No matter what you do or say, theres always a condescending comment. Everyone is an idiot except them.. f^ck outta here...

And arguing over the net is not my style. I'd rather block you so your not on my conscience.

If I saw feline in the street, I would punch him right out his shoes then take his wallet...

Ignoring this Stan-like behavior coming from a few of you (hint...BH and C)...You are starting to mess up the best thread in here :P

For the record (one of my favorite phrases) if Linn drops his Boom Bap Knight Industry 2000, I will throw them a few dollars and pick one up. The same will be true if Roland drops their MV-8801 and Akai drops the MPC 6000. And I will be right here to give you the 411 on these machines. That's what I do. I don't get emotional over a bunch of toys.

PS- At first we were having a civil discussion now some of you are back to your true colors.

You might not get emotional but you do defend your purchase till you're blue in the face. It's cool if you want to collect all this high end gear and wax lyrical about it constantly, but when you're ready to drop some beats worth hearing we'll be all ears Jah.

Stan, you let you emotions get the best of you...I don't. Talking about gear is what I do. It's hilarious to see you get worked up over my choice of drum machine. As far as dropping beats...seek and you will find me.
