Just bought a blue 4k for £195!!!

Trim looks pretty alien from what I'm used to at this point.

I do not have my 4k with me at this time, but if you want to change the wave form view from linear to standard wave form like on other mpc's I believe in the sample edit window you press "window" while the sample name is highlighted and it gives you the option to have it look like the other models do in the trim screen. (I maybe wrong but I know it is a setting adjusted from that location, pretty sure thats how is done though kinda need in front of me to describe it ) Also the top part is your basic wave editor much like a 2500 or xl, the bottom half of the screen is just a zoomed in version of the start or end point (which ever you have highlighted) and if you're in zone edit then the bottom part is the highlighted zone.

Forget if you ever owned a 2xl or not, so sorry if you already know this. Zone edit is much like autochop for a jj2500, not exactly the same but its good for chopping breaks or loops that you have trimmed to precise bars i.e. 4 or 8 bar samples into 1 bar pieces for better programming.

yeah...he has to move his cursor to the "View" field and hit the "open window" button and switch it from "rectified" to "bipolar" to see the traditional waveform.

I can see me using the numeric keys a lot more with the 4k.

Got it... that's a bit more familiar to me now.

I cracked it open tonight to have a look and it's actually there but not working! I reseated it without any luck, and on the off chance tried it in the other slot but I can't get it to register. Judging by the previous attempts to botch it back into life, I can only assume at this point that they **** the ram up somehow.

Internally it looks super tidy now though.

damn that sucks about the RAM, hope its just the chip thats **** up and not the mp itself.

you should tell em about that.

I've already mentioned it to Synth Prof. He has business in my area quite often and said he'd pop round to have a look if the new ram doesn't work.

No updates on the ram situation.

I've been rolling with the stock 16MB for the past few weeks just to get a feel for how everything works. I've also been killing time trying to get AKsys to play nice with my Mac, but I've hit a block with it and I need to go back to square one.

Other than that, I'm gonna check out the tutorial vid that's just dropped and see what I can pick up. It's a lot easier to use than I imagined though!

im pretty stoked for mine, it has all the upgrades, except only 264mb RAM instead of 512, but i think that will work fine for me, i use the 128 all the time on my 1k.

im probably gonna cop that dvd as well.
