Create Programs

I have the following problem. I have some wave files on my pc and want to make programs. I use AKsys but i have the following problems with it:

- Every 5 minutes or sometimes longer/shorter Aksys lose the USB-Connection
- When i create a new ordner with Aksys and lose the USB-Connection during this prozess, i never came in any ordner on the harddrive
- I must manually assign every sound to a pad

So after 3 days i am very pissed of this software (beside the losing USB-Connection the software shutdown often). I create some programs but through the ordner problem i do not come into the ordner, so the whole prozess is a pain.

My question: Is there any programm beside Akysys that can create programms and/or copy it to the sampler? And is there a programm that can do auto assign the samples to a program? I try reycle, cdxtrakt but these programs only can convert one program format to another program format. I can not create a new program with this programs.

The only solution a found was Aksy/Aksui but the installation seems very hard and i do not know if it has a grafik userinterface. Anyone use these program? Many thanks for a solution.

What's the condition of your daw? Is it pretty old or have you just recently upgraded it? A good stable system shouldn't have this problem.

If you have a windows platform (hopefully win xp, sp2), you can go into the control panel, then to system, then to the hardware tab & then device mgr.

If you see any yellow question marks, you have some problems that need to be seriously addressed.

I have to ask this 'cause some think all computers are the same. There's a reason why most programs require a bare minimum on specs for either a pc or mac.

Have you gone through thread in the Newbie Bible that goes over troubleshooting Ak.Sys that Rob did?
Make sure that all of those points are taken care of?


Are you aware that you can create a program on the MPC itself, and that you don't actually need a computer
to operate the 4000? If you've been working on this for 3 days, you could have done it all manually
in that time....


If you know of some other program that "auto assigns" samples, then why not use that, and then use
CDExtract or Translate to translate to the Akai format. I don't know of anything that "auto assigns" samples
except for maybe SampleRobot, but that doesn't use existing files, it samples your hardware synths and software
synths and creates a Program for you , that you can later translate to 4k with a "translation program".
I just checked the specs, and it does do what you want, if your samples are on 1 big Wav:

What is a "ordner problem"? I've never heard of that before.


Have you tried the OpenSource version called Ak.Sy? http://walco.n--tree.net/projects/aksy/
The installation is a bit more complicated then Ak.Sys, but not that hard. Install 1 or 2 programs
then install the Ak.Sy.... yes. it does have a GUI it's called Ak.Syui (UI stands for user interface):

Are you aware that you can use USB JumpDrives with the 4000? So you can plug in to your computer and
put whatever samples you want on it and then unplug from computer and plug into the front USB port
on the 4000?

So even if you can't get Ak.Sys to work, you should still be able to get files to and from your computer if needed...
