Upgrading the Intel processor in the 4000.

Hello good folks.

Has this been discussed before? Is it possible to upgrade the factory processor that ships with the 4000? Has anyone tried to do any upgrades within the machine that would speed up its work flow?

I never heard of anyone doing that before. I'm sure there would be alot of issues to deal with.
Incompatibility with other processors and the motherboard is one thing to consider. Also, the processor is soldered to the board with no socket. Chances of removing it without causing heat damage or damage to the pins is a risk to consider as well.

If I were to find a 4000 for dirt cheap with a fried processor, I'd buy it and experiment using a socket in order to try out different processors that may be compatible. But I'd have to do alot of research before considering such a task, let alone finding a fried 4000 for cheap.

Not only will you have to deal with the processor, I suspect you'll have to find a matching chipset & ram to go with whatever you decide to put in it.

faster cpu in the same family and no chipset swap is necessary. but good luck with that

Bear in mind that if the MPC4000 is probably written in assembler,
optimized for a particular processor (i.e. the one that's in there at the moment)

i doubt there is a faster cpu available for a mainboard like that. what is the fsb on the 4000?
