Ive got this frustrating problem very often that the mpc is very slow at responding to any knob turning and stuff, but when i go to global and look at the cpu load, or ram usage, the MPC aint used to the maximum at all. What is the cause of this problem and what can i do about it, its very frustrating sometimes.

Maybe your smashing to many buttons at once, if not I've never ran into this problem especially when I upgraded to 1.51

I already got 1.51 so that shouldnt be the problem. And i dont push to many buttons at once, sometimes even the sequencer wont stop when i push the stop button.

Anyone else experiencing these problems???

I hope dont have a fawlty unit :?

Did you put in a HD or do you have one stock. Also check what type of ram your using. I bet it has something to do with the speed of one of these.

I use the standard hd the 20gyg, and Mutec 256sd ram so that should be fine

20 Mine came stock with a 60 gig. You might want to check the specs at Akai to see if its works with the 4k.

sup all mo ,
im running 15.1 and ive always had slow screen redraw probs even when the sequencer is not playing,i thought this was the way it was.
this much more noticable when in sample edit page. could this be memory probs?

20 gig hd factory installed
plextor writer
1 crucial 256mb (got link off this forum)
and one 256mb factory installed(dont know make)

could it be cause i have a mismatch in memory sticks ,or the factory installed stick cause i had this problem without the the crucial stick on 15.1.
is it worth getting another crucial stick to match them?
did u solve the problem mo?

Yeah pop out the one you installed later, 256 is more then enough ram anywayz.

I do think its a bug, my mpc get stuck while going to programmode and sample mode to, i hope the betatesters will notifie akai.

sup,
i took both the sticks out ,then loaded a little squence and some samples. i didnt notice that much diference with just the 16mb standard.

so your saying your unit responds better now with just one stick?

Actually, I think they were saying to Pop 1 stick out , to verifiy that you weren't having problems by having 2 different mismatched RAM in the box. If you have removed the RAM and still see the same problem, the problem that you are seeing is most likely not due to any mismatched RAM, and is most likely something else.

Can you describe what you are seeing? I'm somebody who's looking into getting an MPC 4000 but if they have slow redraw rates... well maybe I'll have to get something else. When you say slow, what exactly do you mean. Do you mean 1/2 second, 1 second, 10 seconds?

welcome to da forum,

sorry mate dont let me put u off buying it,this is not a reason 4 anybody to be putt off buying one,i have only just upgraded my mpc's memory, and ive been using my mpc all day with just the one Crucial 256mb stick in today and im sure it was just a mismatch.

it was just like a bit of a delay when, going, to and from sample and program pages, and zooming and using jog dial .

just running one stick has made it better 4 me.
so u have no reason to not go and buy one!
('')

hey man, did u check if the RAM u got are "CL2" or not "CL2.5" or whateva ?
that's what could make the difference

I just ran into this after like 10 hrs of playing

Its not really that bad, its more like a lag more so than anything else, I noticed it when I had only one program in my program list, but it went away when I loaded somemore stuff, and occasionally it will be like a short delay when switching to the save/load modes, but its not anything not expected imo

hello,
i agree with ice this anit no big issue but I brought my unit second hand with one 256stick in it. i had the lag probs all the time when running this stick
(i dont think its the right spec and dosent list it on stick !@****).
after taking out the suspect one and then installing the crucial (im 100%sure that fits the spec,my bro is running 2) the unit was much behaving in a much tighter way

thanks
