split track question

Ive read on the yahoo forum that it is possible to spilt a track up to separate tracks. So its possible to have a drum track with a hihat, bd and clap, to make seperate tracks of it.

Does anyone knows how it this works, it would be very convenient for me

YOU CAN DO IT WITH THE FILTERS AND THEN LAYER EVERTHING BACK THE WAY YOU WANT IT TO SOUND BUT ITS NOT REALLY THE SAME THING. THERE IS A PROGRAM THAT THEY USE IN LAWSUITE/CRIMINAL CASES TO FIND OUT IF THE AUDIO THAT IS BEING SUBMITTED AS EVIDENCE IS REAL OR FAKE BUT IT COST A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY AND IM NOT EVEN SURE IF ITS OPEN TO PUBLIC PURCHASE. MAYBE YOU CAN FIND IT OVERTHERE WHERE YOU LIVE

Hehe lol, i didnt meen the filtering thing. I ment splitting up the midinotes of a track, so that every note gets its own track. Just like Logic has denote by pitch.

? are we sure ... I don't think the 4k has this option but I've heard talk about it in future updates.. it would be very convinent though.. especialy considering the 4k mentality

Just checked it ya, I got it mixed up with seperate by midi (which is channel rather than note) my bad

Would be a nice option, but considering the new mixer, there really wouldnt be much of an advantage to seperating it (of course you coulda started recording with all seperate) unless you wanted to do mass edits like delete track which you could just select the the notes specifically or copy and paste 2 another track

Aint there a way to mute pads in stead of tracks??? Im working my ass of making tracks.

Right now i have to make separate tracks of:
1 WIth hihat and closed hihat
2 With hihat and bassline
3 with hh clhh bassline and shaker
4 etc etc etcc

Whats an easier way to do this without having to copy tracks and delete the notes????

Me personally, I dont even bother making more than one drum track less Im stacking like a drum roll or some shit that I know I only want at a certain section, and I really don't do that any more, I kinda start at 2 bars get them tight as possible than build all the way up to 16, I just kinda perfect my shit along the line with placement and velocity as I go

Now that I really look at what your doing Im only thinking wtf are you doing, why do you need a high hat on every track?, I think if your going to build like that you might as well go all the way, give every sound its own track (time burner for me) and you can use the part mixer, like if all your drum sounds are in program 1, assign program one to part 1-3 (hh,kick,snare) that will give you freedom(I just use the pad mixer to make any adjustments)

What is the most convient for me is pretty much smashng all the drums into track 2, main melody or sample on track 1, bassline track 3, and harmony,etc typically get their own track, than I route them all to there own out and just let my mixer take care of the work

Lots of ways you can do it, but your current way seems a little weird

yhea thats not an ideal way of doing it there mohammed mate.. your best off having every sound on each track and have copies of the pattern with multiple mute settings .. comes out to the same thing, just with more controle and its much more convinent to work with (trigger patterns..

all you have to do is:

program say track 1 with your drums how you want them.

Say you had a kick, snare, hat

then copy that track twice.

On track one hit erase, then hit the pads with the snare and hat and hit do it

track two hit erase and hit the pads with the kick and hat and hit do it

track three hit erase and hit the pads with the snare and kick and hit do it

now you have track 1 - kick track 2 - snare track 3 hat
