Getting the Itch 2 Switch...(a.k.a. please help me decide)

Lately for like a month straight they MPC-4000 has been callin me...
I don't know what it is but something has been telling me that this ol' gal and me would gel an make beautiful music together. But to be honest I don't know anything about her really, only what I've read in her manual, but as we all know chicks can be very different "hands on".

So for those of you who are still seeing her or may have dated her in the past, tell me what she's like. What are her quirks, shortcomings, what do you dig most/least about her.
I've pretty much used every MPC except the 4k, 5k, and the 500. Currently I'm rockin with a 3k/S-3k combo. was thinkin about adding an Alesis Fusion to the mix or replacing everything with the 4k. Lots of comparisons to the 3k/S-3k combo are welcomed.

And again, without turning this thread into a "wish list" be sure to tell me what you don't like about the 4k. I'm assuming if your rockin one then you must like it best overall...

You can get an MPC 4000. You just have to get it from a good source. Buying it off of eBay or any private user, there is no telling what you will end up with. Many times, you will end up buying from someone on eBay that bought it from another person on ebay. Good luck with your purchase though. You still have the option of buying any of the new MPCs especially the 2500 since you come from a 3000 background.

Interesting that you'd mention the 2500 as it was a consideration but I nothing about how the inst pgm function on the JJ os 2xl and I know the 4000's inst pgm's works like the S-6000 which I use to have and liked a lot.

If that is the case, the MPC 4000 is for you if you want an S-6000 type of sampler in your MPC. Or you can just get an S6000 and an MPC 2500. It will be nearly identical to your current set-up.

Go for the 4k and keep your 3k

True, But I should mention that one of my side goals is to have less gear, I'm kinda lookin for a good all rounder w/ MPC-3000-isms.
See, I'm assuming that the 4k sounds similar to the S-6000 which is cool wit me but what I wanna know is hows the sequencer timing? I know that it's 960 ppqn but could it be adjusted to 96 ppqn or say 480 ppqn?

And still y'all ain't tellin me nothin about this chick. Iz she cool? Gimmie the inside scoop before I take her out for a date.

Why don't you just look through this forum and have a read. Then go to the MPC comparison forum and have a read?

Better than asking people to cover old ground all over again. Do your homework, it's all there dude.

Couple of quick points
1. JJ INSTR work really well
2. Jahrome is correct about 4k's that have been through multiple users
3. The Z4/8 samplers would be like the 4k, the S5/6 samplers are different, get a Z if you are after the 4k environment
4. You should wait for v2 for the 5k to come out, it will probably have some affect on the 4k prices as well as units available
5. The Fusion is probably not the direction you want to go but can be found cheap

Once you turn on quantize, the 4K works exactly the same as the other MPCs. The 960 ppqns come into play when quantize is turned off.

Once you learn the ins/outs of the 4000, it will do everything your MPC 3000 can do as well as your S3000.
