I was reading the manual for the 4k and it mentioned that you can assign "parts" to the q-links. i'm assuming that a "part" refers to a single program within a multi. Is it possible to assign q-links for a single pad within a program?

Also, is there a pad mute function? If not, would there be any workarounds?

That is correct about parts. For single pads, you want to use the pad control feature. It's not in the original manual (is in the addendum), but you have to check the menu items from the main q-link page. This lets the q-links work like the note-variation slider of older MPCs.

Using that function, you could automate a single pad's volume... effectively giving you a mute when going between all the way on and off. You can also use the pad mixer to do the same thing. There isn't a build in pad mute like track mutes.
