Record my bass player while playing my drum track....

Can I sample while playing back work ive already done so far. For example. I have a song done but i want a live bass on it. can i sample the player for 8 bars while playing the song so he can keep time.....?

I dont know bout the 4000, but on the 2kxl you cant. I think you have to multitrack it or record it on to a cd or computer and play it back for dude to hear. Or get a metronome and have him play his part to the bpm of the beat. I got free ones over at

I seen the videos of the MV-8000 on the Roland site! They had a guitar player come in and play while the sequencer was goin that was tight!
