MPC freezes when i press the SAVE button... Any suggestions?

Just bought a used mpc4000 (white one)... Seems to work well overall except for when i hit the SAVE button. About half the time when i press the SAVE button (while on the main page) the mpc just freezes. It doesn't actually even pull up the save page, it stays stuck on the main sequence page. After a while I start hearing a clicking noise that sounds like it could be the hard drive. It stays stuck and keeps on making that noise until i power it down.

Since it doesn't actually pull up the SAVE page, I'm wondering maybe if it's not the hard drive. But then again, it starts making that clicking sound that does sound like the hard drive.

I've reloaded the 1.71 OS version, tried the 1.70 version, and am now back on the 1.71 version. I've also formatted the hard drive. Problem keeps happening.

Could be bad RAM. Open up your MPC and pull out RAM, leave it with just 16MB and check if the problem still occurs. I doubt it can be hard drive, but you can pull it off 2 and save your project on pendrive just to check.
