4000 sampler..

I'm a 2500 user looking to upgrade. I just want to know what the 4000 can do (sample wise) that the 2500 can't do. I know the 4k has the z8 engine, but specs wise, it means nothing to me. I'm already sold on the 4k because of the polyphony (twice as much as the other MPC's besides the 5000), but I'm just curious as to what new tricks I can perform on samples.
On the MV8000, there is a feature (almost like autochromatic) that allows the user to take a single sample, and map it across a keyboard. The Autochromatic feature chipmunks samples once you get too high (but it's much better than 16 levels) and while the MV8000 didn't do a "perfect" job, it did sound pretty good. Can the 4k do the same thing?

Yes it is a full sampler plus you can layer the sounds like a piano, strings, and so on. Check out the tips and tricks thread up top.

I have one fam, but to be honest. I dont use all the features so to me its a bit overkill. on paper it all sounds nice but at the end of the day it slows me down workflow and creative wise, the filters and efx are not that good and not worth to me going the extra step in the work flow.


Iam just using the asr for sound/fx/filters and seq with a XL due to workflow.

Yes again the 4k is a full sampler if you wish to spread a single note over keys that is what keygroup programs do. If you want drum hits and phrases that is what drum programs are for and the 4k has both so no problem. You get out of the machine alot if you wish depending on your production and needs. If you are after a phrase/drum sample based production a 2500 would in a sense be enough. If you want to add keys more than 16 levels then research it, try one out and have or not have at it.
