new to the Board

whassup guys,

i´m new to the board. been checking for info here for a while now and finally registered. I sold my Mpc 1000 like 3 months ago and work on my new old 4k for some weeks now. I absolutely love this machine looking forward to have some discussions with ya´ll

thanks for sharing, I been using Cubase for some years now tho. I must say it pretty much satisfies me, altough I think my man´s brand new Mac with Logic 8 on it seems to be a strong machine

Sorry repost your reply again I was answering and edited it by mistake my bad. I wanted to add we all have the pdf file also and it helps along with trying out every button and parameter with the window button. My two cents try out the sample editing functions then send your sample to the program sections.

already did that. I got my first 4k beat in work, been working on it for some weeks now. I like taking my time and jus play with the machine. Every session turns out to be a pleasure haha, I´m so glad I got rid of the 1000

Good for you I got rid of my 2xl and 1k some time ago though I still wish I kept my 1k for portable reasons. The 4k is cool and one can do alot with it. Sample editing is a big plus on the 4k not alot is automated like other mpcs but it has alot of the build in functions you find on a computer audio editor. Customizing your samples never been easier on an mpc. Still you might want to use outside effects in you have them. Bang on player.

i jus love the fact that the 4k has way more features, of course I haven´t everything figured out yet. For instance, what´s the main difference between Drum and Keygroup programs. Can you give me a quick sum up?

Yup pages 8-9 in the users manual real quick like. Drum one note per keygroup aka drums and phrases. Keygroup covers several notes per keygroup in a keyspan aka piano, bass, and so on. Load drum kit go with drum program. Want pianos, strings go with a keygroup program plus it is better than 16 level tunings. You have everything in your best friend the manual just everything per manual like we say we all read. Its yours have at it.


Techniques is a different thing though, get through exploring the machine first before making an incredible beat.

yeah, I love it. For me, it didn't take any "unlearning" because I started with the 4k, I knew the others wouldn't fit what I wanted to do
