It can be used live as part of your set or as your set. Backing tracks for traditonial musicians, part of a Dj setup with turntables for remixing on the fly, or enhancing your spins and with you creating songs and rhythms from your own sequences with the build in sampler or controlling midi modules it is up to you. There is so much you can do with it live or in the studio. First check out videos or club events in your area featuring Dj`s using drum machines and sequencers in their setup to understand more. On MTV( In the Zone ) program features world class Dj`s using some in their sets. It may not always be a MPC; but, a sequencer is a sequencer and the MPC is one of the best.

I've done a couple of live shows just using the MPC4000. I had loads of samples assigned to the Q-link knobs that I could adjust in real time. Changing sequences, simulated scratching playing samples from the pads and tuning them simultaneously with the Q-links. Yeah, it's great for playing live with.

yeah mpc is THE sht for playing live, im just about to take out the mpc as a full backline for an aussie hiphop group(w/ xl-7 & nordlead3)...anyway should be fun, ill post all the fk ups as soon as they happen!
