HELP PLEASE MPC 4000 vs ASR-10 Creating Keygroups

I'm new to the forum I need help ASAP I have a MPC 4000 and a ASR 10 with SCSI and purple screen I love my 4000 it was my first peace of gear its amazing but the creating the keygroups programs is kicking my ass I can get to the window with the keyspan as far creating but I can't line up notes right the sound is off I have a ASR-10 with is warm but doesn't have as nearly as much sound qualitly as my 4000 but it is so damn easy to create a keygroups I wanna sell my ASR-10 to put on for money for an Alesis Andromeda because I feel I would not need it if I learned the keygroups besides the damn scsi drive is killing me on the ASR CAN ANYONE POST step by step how to line up keyspans and set keygroups I have access to a B3 yamaha CS_80 and a real Mellotron I can make a killer library I heard its easier on software akys but dont know how on there if there is a video anything help so if am trying to sample keys on the 4000 and sample notes C F# B# how do I set keyspan anything will help please the only thing I like on ASR that I feel is better is Effects but i hear software effects has come a long way sp any and every input would gladly be appreciated and if you know of any videos please send links

What a long sentence.

I believe there is a recent thread in the 4000 forum which discusses keygroups at great length.

First create a keygroup program.

Next you need to create the keygroups for each sample you use by going into the
ky mix page with f2. Highlight the keygroup you should have one and press the window button now you need to create the number of keygroups for your samples. Check your ref manual on page 202 on how you want the keys to be arranged.

After that add your sample to each keygroup and set the range aka keyspan in the pitch page by hitting the low and high keys on your keyboard or using your wheel. This information is also on page 207 in your ref manual.

Lastly once you have all your your samples assigned and the keyspan set you have a choice of keeping the pitch constant if you are using phrases or at pitch if you are using the mellotron program as a multi instrument. Check up on pages 207-210 for reviewing the information.

ill sometimes use keygroups for bass, but all i do is take one bass note, hit load, create new program, and instead of drum, switch it to keygroup. assign that to a part and its layed out on my keyboard perfectly.
