which technique do you prefer using with samples?

When dealing with chopped up samples and creating new melodies I use my attack, decay, sustain and release envelopes to smooth out the transitions in between samples. I've never used the crossfading feature and am wondering if it is any different then what I'm doing already.

no I haven't. because I kind of thought I was doing the same thing by adjusting the attack and decay of each sample .
