sample start offset parameter?

Just wanted to check something with the 4k knowledge base.

Scenario.
Record a long sample 45sec of a track, copy across all sixteen pads so all pads trigger the 45sec sample.

It would be nice if there was a simple sample start offset parameter that would allow u to set each pad to have a different sample start offset addressing the SAME sample.

As far as I am aware this isn't possible on the 4k?
easy on an EMU E4 you have a sample offset percentage or ensoniq too.

It seems a shame to have to copy the sample data to new sample locations just to have a different start time. I would have thought akai would have found a way to read the same sample from a different index point.

Anyone found a way of doing this without copying the actual sample???

I don't mean regions either. Just a simple sample start offset.

So, I guess the "start" parameter in PROGRAM/ZONE PITCH BLOCK is just
not enough for your purposes!? I haven't played with the MOD MATRIX Velocity-->SampleStart yet to judge that feature, but I suppose only small amounts of time shifts are possible.

yeah only moves very small amounts good for softening the attack on a multi sample violin but not enough to do what I wish it would.

I've used sample offset on several long samples. I would trigger 4 different long samples (from ProTools) on different tracks at location 1:0.

Use can use the sample offset to 'move' the sample tracks buy triggering it at a slightly different place in the sample, so you can sort of dial in a slightly different feel of how the 4 tracks sound together..

probably didn't explain that so well.
