IDEA : Auto sampling keyboards should be possible on the 4k

I just realized today that this may be quite straight forward to do automatic sampling on the 4k however its only an idea at the moment. Will have a little look next week when `I have some time. But if someones gotta bit of time on their hands .......

IDEA
Create a Midi sequence containing a chromatic scale to send to the synth to play the preset you want to capture. Plug the audio outs of the synth into the 4k.

Within that sequence have the correct sysex commands (between notes) with appropriate gaps for the front panel sequence to record and assign each sample to the correct pad. It should be the same key strokes and the corresponding midi note again for each sample I think.

don't know if the seq could be played of the 4k or if you would need to run it from an external seq to get it to work

however in theory that may do it.

well, yeah, it is possible,
but would programming it all not take longer than just sampling what you wanted manually and putting it in a program?

I once did a vaguely related when I didn't own a multi-channel input soundcard,
and wanted to extra all 8 channels of a recording on a Fostex digital multitracker machine (which only had stereo SPDIF outs) -
I managed to get 4 pairs of 2 tracks out one after the other, all synced up,
using MMC on the Akai to always start the Fostex at the right point,
and sample in the the MPC4k.
A truly elephantine solution to what would be a piece of piss if I'd had the right equipment in the first place

i did/do something like this. i have a sequence saved on the HD for sampling w/4 notes per octave. i would load a VST, and then use the mpc to play the notes and use emulator x to record the samples. it was faster for me to build the basic program, edit the samples, assign the keys, w/emulator x and convert to AKP than do the whole thing w/in the MPC.
