Anyone ever use Roland Vdrums with their mpc 4000

I was thinking how cool it would be to hook up an electronic drum kit like one of the Roland Vdrum kits to your mpc 4000 and use the Vdrums as ur triggers instead of the MPC pads, I figure you could come up with more interesting beats since you'd be playing like a real drummer.

yeah I been thinking about buying that roland trigger to midi converter and running maybe just a multi zone snare, w/ a kick and hat pads cos it would be cheaper.
Then I could track all other percussion stuff changing the note number on the snare.....not sure how much it would cost me all up & ill have a little looky on the net this morning and post it l8r.
But yeah I think you'd get heaps more swing and be able to get into it a bit more.... Now im writing it I want to try it....

did some research and you can pick up the roland trigger to midi converter for around $200, then the pads you buys is up to you, single zone or double zone. actual mesh drums or rubber pads.....
I think it would end up being just over $500 for a dual zone mesh head snare. Hihats + pedal and the Kick trigger.
Im gunna start saving! also with the roland trigger to midi converter(tmc-06) you can run acoustic triggers too!!!
so yeah il keep you posted, let me know if anyone else has had the same idea or some experience using v-drums in a midi setup.

I had a Roland TD5 once and used it with NI Battery, via MIDI. Works like a charm!

check out a DrumKat. they are nice too.

Yeah I use a roland tmc6 midi converter and four pd6 single trigger pads. they work great, though it would be good to get the mesh head triggers and a kik trigger

whats up fasterbeats, how you find that setup? What u running it into? Im hanging to get some pads kicking but I just realised i'll have to buy all the hardware aswell, how did you mount yours?

Im a metal worker. and made up a little four post jig tha fits into the bottom half of a cymbal stand. So ive just got 4 pads like this,

I run the tmc6 straight to a midi in on mpc,
Its the cheapest method i could find...tmc6 was about 500 aussie dollas the pads about 130 each ..thats a coupla years ago now.
