is this a good deal on the 4k

blue 4k. 320gb HD. 512mb ram. and a stanton turntable for 1600?

if i remember correctly the blue 4k's suffer freeze issues?

edit: im weary cuz this sounds too good to be true. Its from craigslist. Guy is willing to let me test it out at his studio.

Yeah, not a bad deal but...not too good of one either. First thing I see is the hd overkill (320g's), which of a little less than 200g's is going to waste.

Unless there's something I don't know about, the max you're going to see with that amount of space is going to be around 127g's (internally).

And second, I can't vouch on the reputation that "blue versions" are known for locking up and whatnot (unless it was abused or something or lacking the latest os).

But check it out and see if you can negotiate some figures, you might get lucky.

I have been using the blue 4k regularly for more than two years now.
Yesterday I encountered the FIRST hang-up. I tried to clear
all memory (GLOBAL page) while the sequencer was running.
Somehow, the machine didn't like that!

Anyway, I had issues with the machine in the way that it didn't boot and
the front USB slot didn't work. Well, these were all failures due to bad cable
connection. I just reseated them all and everything is fine since.

That's weird. The seller makes mention that it has a 320g external HD, but no mention of what's internal (my guess is a 80g).

So I take back what I posted earlier about the 320g HD, 'cause of it being external.

dabs that was my mistake... i read it wrong and forgot to clarify.

its an 80gb internal, and a 320g external, with a 2gb flash drive, plus the turntables, and 512mb ram.

he dropped it to 1500 everything and 1300 if I just want the 4k. He said I need to buy a ground for the turntable... what is that?

is this still a good deal?

I'd go for the mpc only. Idk if you've got a TT or not, but that's your call. As far as the ground, I assume it's the TT ground tab on the back of the mpc, which can be easily replaced if it's just missing or something.

Plus let the seller know you have $1100 or $1200 in cash and see if he'll take it or not.

Well I think it would be nice if it had 8 outs for that price. You might need it later on and it costs around 150$ if I'm correct.
