hi you all!!!

Finally the spanish new distributor of akai doesn't sell the MPC 4k with the CD-rom.(What the f***´s wrong with´em?)
So now i`m that kind of man getting crazy looking for a compatible cd-rom for this precious. What i've read is that the plextor w-2410a cd-rw that comes w/ the 4k, is an old one impossible to get at any shop.
The list with compatible cd-roms provided from akai is useless for that reason, ain't it?.
That´s why i'd like any suggestion from you guys.
For me this quite important (just think that for a moment i though in buyin`a mv-8000 roland s**** :? ).

Also happens with the memory: Someone said the best choice is getting a CL2 double side pc 133 256mb.But couldn´t find any CL 2

Conclusion: I want the best for my future MPC.A lot of time thinking in creating with it........

Saludos y gracias DNB..850

I wont use that IDE controller for a CD-rom drive.. Ive connected two IDE hard drives to the internal connector and an USB cdrw via a hub to the second USB 1.1 port in the 4k. So now I have two HDs inside and 1 cdrom outside and still have room for external HDs, Jazz, zips, etc.. (USB hub and SCSI)

Memory needs to be PC133. Double sided. I have two sticks from 256megs, 1 double sided, the other is 1 sided. The MPC recognizes the double sided as 256, but it accepts only 128megs from the 1 sided 256mb stick.. I have a total of 400megs.

Oooh.. I think it accepts a bunch of them.. I have an external Lite on DVD writer (USB 2) attached to a USB 2 hub wich is connected to the USB 1.1 on the MPC4k, works quite well (MPC wont accept DVD, off course, only CD..) One minor issue: I cant open the DVD drive on the drive itselfs.. I have to 'eject' it from within the MPC.

SCSI drive needs the right pin connector. Dunno wich the MPC4k uses.. But de S5000, for example, uses 50pin connectors.

thanks for the info.

ican't figure what's wrong with akai's distributor in Spain....they're only providing the LE s**** (no cd drive and now i'm afraid that it wo'nt be any HD on it)
So is it really a good choice to buy this 4k and then spent aditional money for the drives and other s***?

ohh no the roland mv-8000 is insid my head again :? .....what the f***!!!!

Dont go for the MV8000! Get yourself the bold MPC and upgrade it yourself, it will be cheaper!

HDs are very cheap! +- 1 euro for 1GB
The memory can be found on E-bay! Or elsewhere.. Just do a search in the secondhand market in Spain!

I only like the 4k rather than the MV.
I trust AKAI guys to finish this machine in farther updates.
Everyday I think in the MPC, I look for prices in every shop here in Spain but first i gotta find all the things we're talking 'bout.

Everyday in front of the computer doing that...just imagine my face...

I'm tired but the only rest will be touching those pads....

Thanks for all your info man

If the MV keeps comming in your head why dont you buy it, don't insult us like that

I have a regular store brought seagate I got out the store inside of my mp4k works perfect

cdrom, just go usb, go to a store buy it and just return it same day if it doesnt work, tell them specifically what your buying it for some stores may even plug up a few to find one that works perfect just to keep you from constantly returning shit

Or try contacting Akai and asking for a list of compatible cdroms, theres a solution somewhere to your problem

maybe my english ain't perfect...insult you???

you seem very fragile if thinks so, but i cannot read any offesinve thing in my replys.....not even tryin' to.

Man, take it easy...i was just writing about how difficult is to get an akai mpc 4k with all its good things (at least in my country). So this is 'bout spanish distributor an maybe akai itself....too much money to be paid plus the matter of being worried about the specific drives to buy....

Saludos

If your question is so much about the 4k, why you keep mentioning mv-8000, if its running across your mind go buy it......

its like me going to the motif forum asking them a question, then saying ugggghh I think I want a Triton......
