any trouble using aksys on windows 7? How about on a mac?

No poblem on my macbook!!!and win 7 has a software you can down load that (kind of ect)replicates xp.so seems good.looking good bro

Download the Latest MPC 4000 Ak.sys Software
http://www.forat.com/Downloads/aksys253.zip
Download the Latest MPC 4000 USB Driver
http://www.forat.com/Downloads/akmpc4ku201.zip
Unzip and install aksys253. Unzip the usb drivers into a folder somewhere
and remember that folder.
Connect usb cable to 4k and turn it on.
In Win7 32bit on my laptop I right clicked on my computer.....
MANAGE
DEVICE MANAGER
AKAI SAMPLER
AKAI MPC4000 MUSIC PRODUCTION CENTRE
rightclick on that
UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE
Browse and find that folder that you placed your
usb drivers in, or you can do it SEARCH AUTOMATICALLY.
Once you have that folder highlighted hit OK
Popup will say drivers are uncertified, I continued on anyway.
Drivers will then be installed.
I opened up aksys afterwards and BAM there was my 4k showing up in aksys.
I didn't have to reboot and I did all this while the machine is on and connected via usb cable.

Thanks lamp. I have windows 7 64bit. Ill give this a try in a few...

Yeah, I also put it on my win 7 64bit desktop and it works. I followed the same route.
This is actually the default manual way to install drivers into Windows since several versions ago.

it didnt work for me. whenever I try to browse for the USB driver, it says it cant find it.
maybe because its saved on my desktop? ill try somewhere else...

So do it manually and browse for the driver in the folder where it is.
Remember you need to unzip the downloaded file into a folder.
To make it easy BOTH files should be in the same folder BY THEMSELVES.
akMPC4ku.inf
akMPC4ku.sys
Desktop is also a folder, lmao.

Did all the above. I was saying maybe I should try putting the folder somewhere else (to exhaust all possibilities).
I just want to transfer my sounds from the PC over to the MPC. The 4k hard drive is not even showing up in my computer...

Aww man, I don't know what to tell you except try a different usb port or cable.
everytime I've tried it the way I described it worked for me first time on laptops and desktops.

I assume that we are talking about doing all this in Virtual XP mode?

getting aksys to work is hit or miss on windows 7 64 bit.
Also If you have windows 7 home 64 bit your screwed because you cannot run Virtual XP mode on it. Only on professional and ultimate editions.
