NEED HELP ASAP!!! usb driver

Hi guys, new to this forum. Love the info on here and gladly appreciate everyones input on here. I have a quick question regarding usb drivers. Im currently trying to plug my usb cord from the back of my mp to my laptop, but its not recognizing the driver and its saying i need to install my device driver. What im trying to do is pull sounds from my laptop library ie:acapellas, loops etc and drag then to my mp. without my usb cord not being able to detect a device driver im s.o.l. Any suggestions on how to do this. It will be greatly appreciated

I've successfuly installed the akysys, but the usb download wouldn't install. I tried installing the latest driver but it wouldn't work. Is there something I'm doing wrong??? Any response will be greatly appreciated.

maybe install it without your mpc connected to your notebookit

maybe a windows setting you have where you dont allow uncertified drivers to be installed

it should install......try downloading driver again....should be MPC4000 - Version 2.00 of the USB drivers

still no driver. I dont know why this is so hard. I know i must be overlooking something. Im able to install aksys, but not download the usb device driver. When i trouble shoot through windows they tell me to download software from their website. I think i have the folder for it, but its just the install wizard. when i go to install it, nothing happens. Once im able to connect my laptop with my mp I will be on my way to greatness. This is the only thing thats stopping me, please help!!!

^^^I think you need to connect the mpc first so that the "found new hardware" dialog comes up.

It'll then direct you if you want windows to find the driver or you pick the driver, you of course select the driver.

Where ever you unzipped the .inf & .sys files, you'll have to direct (assuming it's windows) to these files (desktop maybe) so that they can get installed within the windows o.s. correctly.

Download the Latest MPC 4000 Ak.sys Software
http://www.forat.com/Downloads/aksys253.zip

Download the Latest MPC 4000 USB Driver
http://www.forat.com/Downloads/akmpc4ku201.zip

Unzip and install aksys253. Unzip the usb drivers into a folder somewhere
and remember that folder.

Connect usb cable to 4k and turn it on.
In Win7 32bit on my laptop I right clicked on my computer.....

MANAGE
DEVICE MANAGER
AKAI SAMPLER
AKAI MPC4000 MUSIC PRODUCTION CENTRE
rightclick on that
UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE
Browse and find that folder that you placed your
usb drivers in, or you can do it SEARCH AUTOMATICALLY.
Once you have that folder highlighted hit OK
Popup will say drivers are uncertified, I continued on anyway.
Drivers will then be installed.


I opened up aksys afterwards and BAM there was my 4k showing up in aksys.
I didn't have to reboot and I did all this while the machine is on and connected via usb cable.

im having the same issues as you. What operating system are you using?

Anybody ever got this to work on Win7 64 bit ?

The stated solutions didn't work. Eventhough i have downloaded the drivers (2 files) i could not refer windows to them succesfully while i choose the manual approach (i pointed towards the drivers folder) .....

The device manager does show 2 devices with an exclamation, 1 is the Akai Music production center and the other one is an unknown device.

far as I know it won´t work on a 64bit system, at least it didn´t work over here

I thought 64bit windows is backwards compatible meaning it'll take 32bit drivers as well.

Try right clicking on the install file go to properties and in one of the tab's select run in legacy mode or winxp mode. forget what exact name of that option is but I know it's there.

if ya'll got legit copies of windows 7 you can download virtual machine with winxp from microsoft. then run ak.sys in emulation

Yep, you need to run it using a virtual machine in either Windows or OSX using Windows XP. It works perfectly once it's up to speed.

So when you run it with the Virtual XP mode then it does recognise the drivers ?
Ak.sys was running just fine in Win7, it's the lack of driver support for the 4000 which is the problem.

For the millionth time.

Aksys works Win7 32bit.
Aksys doesn't work 64bit. Compatiibility mode doesn't work with it.

Use Aksys inside of WIN XP via VMWare on Win7 64bit like I stated above. That's the workaround, thats all you get. Handle it.
