Usually when I want to move or arrange events in a grid / timeline I use sequence edit. Mostly for detailed note durations, velocities, control changes, and finding out the pads i used step edit is very convient and fast. Sequence edit can display an event list allow, but I have to highlight the whole track to get everything Step edit is faster and easier for beat surgery.
