mpc2500 beats on the 4000

Hello people!
I hope i post this in the right section

I made an hiphop album in my mpc2500. Now im thinking of selling the 2500 and buying the 4000.
Have i lost all my beats from the 2500, or can i open these song/program files also on the 4000 by simply copying
the files from the 2500 onto the harddisk of the 4000 and just press play? I really hope so..

Help on this topic is greatly appreciated!!

Is it an obvious no, or hasn't anyone tried this before so nobody knows?
There must be more owners of a 2500 who moved on to a 4000 i suppose?

I tried searching on the topic and could find the same question in another topic, but there was only 1 reply from

so i guess i'll have to record and mix the album first before moving to a 4000.. I don't feel like recreating all the beats on
the 4000.

Wouldn't it be easier to add an S5000 or S6000 to your MPC2500? Or does the MPC4000 have other features you need/want?

the 2500 is a perfect machine for arranging samples but i wanna do more with my beats and samples in the box. I know i can buy some jjos for 100 dollars to get more out of the 2500 but why not just buy the best mpc ever namean.
Im looking forward to the learning curve. Im hungry

You can load midi files of the 2500 in the 4000
you just need to rebuild the programs. (done that couple times, pretty fast with AKSys)

So I guess you are going to get the JJOS XL?

Don't take this the wrong way but it wouldn't be too smart to move to the 4k without first buying the JJOS XL for your 2500.
First reason is it will make you wonder why you even wanted the 4k.
Second even if you decide you still want the 4k it will help your resale value.
The 4k is a killer box but it doesn't have the leverage on JJOS XL that it has on the Akai OS.
JJ closed a lot of the gaps and then exceeded the 4k in many ways.
the cost of the OS is nothing compared to what you gain.

The final point is if you are using that sad Akai OS on your 2500 then the 4k , 5k or JJOS XL is going to be like Nitrox Oxide in comparison.

Sorry, i was lately busy and havent checked here for a while to see if there were more posts.

But... i bought the mpc 4000 and i allready forgot i owned the 2500
The only thing i didnt like was the manual for the 4K. After reading i have so many questions left that werent answered in the book.


but still, i love the machine.

I've been porting my live set from my JJ 2500 to my new 4000 using Chicken Sys Translator..It wasn't working at first wouldn't translate from MPC 2500 into any format) but I've been in touch with them and they've just fixed..got a busy weekend now of actually translating the programs and checking with the midi files I've saved from the 2500..I'm worried that where I've saved the midi files in Type 1 format I might have f***** up with putting all notes from one midi channel but different tracks onto a single track..time will tell!

Now that is why i love this forum!
Alway's useful tips and suggestions I've downloaded Chicken system translator, so i will post the outcome this weekend!

For people who are interested in Chicken sys translator: I've checked the program once, but i didnt figure out how it works exactly. I'm recreating some beats now on the 4K which is more interesting then using the old sequences and samples (resampled the files i needed).

But the translator program could prove to be quite usefull for people looking for a way to convert stuff.

I have the full version of Translator and have been a user since it's original release.
I have NEVER been able to get any version of Translator to work on JJ OSXL programs from my 2500 or 1k?

It doesn't understand the Audio Tracks, Instrument Tracks etc to translate them.
