Can't get Protools 003 to see the ADAT input? Can someone pl

I have recently acquired the adat option for my mpc4000 however I am having trouble getting protools to see the incoming signal. I have searched the forums and can't find a procedure for setting this up.

What I have done so far is assigned adat channels in the 4K pad mixer window. and sent a signal through them, Started a new protools project and created a new audio track using the corresponding adat channel as the input. and put protools into record mode(so it should see the signal coming in) . I have returned the 003 to it's default input in the I/O window this has adat 1 and 2 coming in on optical 9 and 10. at this point the sync light does not come up on the 003 for adat.

I have also tried both spdif and adat settings in the optical format section of the 'hardware setup' window.

Am I using the right adat cables I'm using 'optical audio toslink' cables?

What am I missing here? Is anyone running this kind of configuration? Please bless me with some knowledge!

If you're running windows, check the sound & audio devices properties to see if your adat inputs show up there as the default inputs.

And the other thing is to double check any audio utilities associated with your s/c, and make sure nothing is muted.

Thanks for your input Dab. I'm using an IMac G. But I hear what your saying. Anyone else? Must be some protools gurus out there using the ADAT? What about the 'optical format toslink' cables' are these the right ones?

Hey, I've got some of the way through this. just tryin to work out what's up with the mixer window now. With the 8 outs installed and the adat. There are several outs you can assign on the out in the pad mixer section. I would have thought that sending to either 1/2 or 1 would have sent the outgoing pad signal down the adat channels.

But a bit weird Pro tools is now seeing everything going out the ML setting in the out section of the pad mixe (what does ML stand for anyhow?).

How do you assign the adat channels - do you do it in the mixer window as would be logical or is there something else I'm missing. I think the problem may still be in my pro tools configuration.

Help me out fellas!
