I'm trying to trim a sample mpc 4000

I am not able to change my end point on a loop.....but I can move the start...I am trying to grab a snare out of a 2 bar loop...i select the end, but it won't turn back

That is because the end of the loop is in the last section,,, the trim wont go back further then the region.

Move to a region further in the back of the sample

Keep at it murray. I predict that 5 to 6 months from now you will look back and feel that you can do pretty much what you want because you stuck it out and learned this machine.
