Love my 4000

But this forum is pretty dead. I think software has most of our attention. There could be some nice 4000 work flows to exchange etc. . . But I think it may be too late and most have moved away from the 4000. Next to the 3000 the 4000 is almost a bridge of ITB with the 3000. A lot to explain, but no use really.

Been sitting on my couch with my 2 Danes and my 4000 and a turntable having fun for like a week!!! Just sharing.

I just bought two MPC4000s.

I don't work ITB at all unless I'm using audio editors or multitrack audio recording software.

I think you may be right! About ITB I just need a hw va (had a virus but 2400 was too much for bad daw integration). Any suggestions on a good VA to go with? Thinking nord lead 3

Small tip others may know already, sampling at 45 RPM or vari speed the DAW gives me a similar sound to my 3000 when I detune the sample -5.20 semitones for 45 RPM or -14.66 semitones for 78 RPM. Sort of same principle applies for resampling and pitching up say 17 semitones then bring the sample back down. It's like the cleanest filter with clarity and smear that you can apply. I don't use the bit redux for Lofi sound. Just sharing! Facking Love this 4000. 3000 is coming back out the closet soon though!

I don't think that this forum is dead . Just that most questions that people may want to ask are already covered somewhere in the massive 4k newby bible. So no need to post new Q's just search through the archives. But good luck to you and your 4k.

Too right mate. The 4k is a grand piece of gear. One really has to dig in to learn it. One tip thought is to study other songs by your fav producers and then figure out how to do it on your 4k. Plus you can see what the extra features give you to add flava to your production using the deep 4k parameters.

I`m alot more comfortable on my 4k.

I love my MPC4K no more that's cus I'm not sampling anymore. Not saying that MPC is somewhere behind, but the computer is more practical for keyboard based beats. At least for me

what's your thoughts on the 2500 in correllation to the 4k?

2500 is a great phrase sample and the chop feature is great. I like the mod matrix on the 4k allowing me the ability to tweak whole programs besides the individual hits/pads. Using my qlinks and cc from an external controller I don't really have to dive through several menus to tweak several cutoffs in different parts like on a 2500. But in the end it all comes to preference and the quality of music you make.

The 4k is really more akin to a synth once you are tweaking it.

sounds like a superior machine, 2500 takes ages to tweak programs as each pad has to be adjusted individually as you say. this is my biggest beef!

what is the synth like? easy to use?

Sorry the MPC doesn`t have oscillators like the MPC 5k in the true sense. But it is a full sampler so I can sample my other synths waveforms into the MPC 4k use a keygroup program and build a synth in a way.
