One Shot / Polyphony

Is there a One Shot function on the 4000? I like the fact that if I tap the button it plays the sound differently but I dont like the fact that I have to hold down my Open Hi Hats when Im trying to sequence, also does anyone know how change programs from polyphonic to monophonic once I load in my cut up samples from Recycle?

First thing you want to do is Read the Manual before hitting the forum, but hey...

When in sample page you can choose each sample to play as 'No loop' 'Loop' or 'One Shot'

Also to change from poly to mono, you must go to the program page find the sample you want to change within it's designated program, then change Voice stetting from 64 down to 1

Good looks on that information, Ive been trying to download the manual from the akai website but my computer freezes everytime I go to their site, thanks for that info, that was bugging me...How long have you had your 4000?

Where at in Sample page? I went to Sample and that screen didnt pop up, do I have to press window?

i don't have my MP on so this might be a bit shady,
find sample you want in sample page list> then press trim loop (f2) you should see it there, PLAYMODE:

NO LOOP
LOOP
ONE SHOT

GOOD LOOKS FAMO! I appreciate that, thats the only thing I was stuck on, The Manual that I downloaded doesnt tell me that information, awesome...how you like your 4K? Ive owned all the MPC's the 4000 is my favorite so far besides the 3000 but thats the 3000...You got any samples of your work?

Damn this sucks...I have to do that for every program that I load into it huh? Damn alot of work with these machines, its a huge transitions coming off the new MPC's such as the 2500 and 5000.

Not really a lot of work, you just do it while you're trimming your sample or whatever.
I doubt there is a 'Change Multiple sample play-modes' button on the newer models, and anyways, you copped a beast of an MPC, the only real limits to this thing, in sample based production terms, are really the user and their knowledge of how to use it to get what they want out, rather than your creativity being driven by the limits of the machine.

you can do this in the program screen. just hit the program button. Select the program you want. hit KG mix (F2), then hit Zone (f6).
you can select if you want it to change just the pad you are on or all the pads of that program by changing edit:one to all.

Than you can change the play mode of the pad(s) from as sample to one shot or no loop/loop.

I dont see where I can change the pads to One Shot, I know its in the Trim Menu if Im not mistaken, I just switched all my samples to one for the polyphony but Im stuck on where to change to one shot for all pads.

Just follow the instructions. on the top of the zone screen in the middle you will see edit:one, you can change that one to all (meaning all the pads).below you'll see some parameters for velocity (per zone) and below that you'll see the parameters for the 4 zones where you can change the way the samples play.

There is a difference between setting it up in the trim screen and the program screen, this is cool as you can then set the sample to playback in different ways if it's on different pads or zones. This can mix your track up a bit.

I understand play mode but..
How do I set up my sample to: P
Press a pad once, and plays sample in ONE SHOT
but if I press the pad again, it stops the sample
press the pad again and it plays the sample from the the the start?????

is that part of setting the voice?
