I should add this to the zone select thread but I like the idea enough to give it its own...
So..., earlier I mentioned removing samples from specified velocity ranges in zone select, ok...
What you can do is select which zones you want to use, one or more of which will be blank but still set up as velocity ranges. Select random lfo to control zone select and the beat will play the samples selected and the silences at random giving a human feel if set up well. Think about using it for backing percussion and utilise the idea over several (or more) pads...
You can use subtly different samples or totally opposing stuff, the results are always interesting!
It is worth making small programs for each use of this method as it enables you to add specific effects to each part, from there you can build a kind of multi drum kit made of small programs. This also enables you to use q-links for each part so you can start getting some really in depth beats or sample mash ups happening...
