Ok, after hours and hours of trying to get this to work I can't. I have xp mode steup and i can run aksys through it, but reading your guys' posts it seems like you install the drivers in xp mode and then you can have it work under bit windows 7 without xp mode, correct? I am desperately trying to accomplish this because when I transfer stuff in xp mode with intregration on i get errors and when I try and open a editor like audacity I get errors, and I never get this on my old machine that has xp , so I know somethings afoot. All my stuff I need is on windows 7 so it's a pain to switch back and forth. If someone could help me out I would appreciate it sooo much, countless hours of getting no where is sooo frustrating!

Sorry but you're wrong. aksys works fine with 32 bit windows 7 and works in xp mode in 64 bit, if you read my post in full you would see where I wrote that I have another machine with xp on it, but it defeats the purpose because it's slow as hell and all my apps and samples are on the windows 7 machine. I am not trying to be a dick, I am just stating facts.

It might be the chipset/driver data base on your new machine that's not compatible with ak.sys.

Care to give any physical specs on this new machine you're using?

I just updated not too long ago. Actually updated it because Ableton and Maschine would not run on my old system. It is 4 Gig ram, 2 ghz, 60 gig hd, athlon 2, windows 64 bit. I use a NI Audio DJ 8 with Asio Drivers. Aksys works and all on windows 7. just doesn't see the 4k because of the drivers, and like I said I have all those troubles in xp mode. I did however manage to hookup VMare and XP instead of xp mode, and so far so good, it is a lot better than xp mode, I can drag and drop and everything from windows 7 into xp mode and it's able to load up ablton, recycle and audacity to edit samples. It be nice to work completely in windows7, but this is the next best thing.

I do however have one question, after I edit a sample in recycle and export and save it doesn't seem to save those changes to the sample, do I have to go and save it somewhere else and then drag and drop that edited sample back into the mpc 4k? Thanks in advance guys, I am so damn happy that after all these hours of frustration I am finally able to use my 4k as it was intended! Making programs in aksys is awesome, I think it's even better than having a vga out!

Oh yeah and when I use ableton it doesn't seem to load the sample up like on recycle and audacity, only goes to a new session view, and can't figure out how to access the aksys usb folder inside ableton, any suggestions or help for that?

I must say, after messing with Vmare and Xp(Which basically allows you to use ajsys as it were in windos 7 since you can drag and drop from windows 7 to xp, which MS Xp mode CANNOT do) for a few hours and recycle to create .akp files I am loving this, it has made the mpc that much better. I felt like I took a little step backwards purchasing the mpc since I have 64 bit OS and there is not 64 bit drivers. But now that I have everything working the way I need it to work I am so happy, this machine is the shitnit! I cannot get over how dope the 4k is. Coming from the 1k it is such a dramatic improvement! I have touched NI Maschine twice since I got the 4k, and when I did I sequenced everything in the 4k, lol. To all those people who say Maschine is a mpc killer, they are soooo wrong. ! midi alone kills it, even the 2 midi on the mpc 1k was not enough for me. The 4k is a beast, especially the q-link sequences and the whole synth engine. Between my new ms2000 and the 4k I have so much to learn, but I will sure have a blast doing it.

Just want to thank the knowledge base on this forum for all your help. I haven't had to ask many questions, because almost everytime I had a problem I used the search engine and the answer was already there. You guys rock, thanks so much!
